IMR optimized flashlights

i have read that some lights are just not designed to be used with IMR batteries as their led's / driver's just cant handle the current or they just cant maximize the advantages such batteries offer.

can you give me some lights that are optimized or excel best when used with IMR batteries specifically 18650 size.

thanks all.:)

Never heard of this. It may be some 0.8 - 4.2v lights that rely on internal resistance when used with a fully charged li-ion. IMRs have very low resistance and you just can’t say “give me all you got” to an IMR cell, or it burns things.
Any AMC 7135 based driver should be IMR safe.

Hmmm... can't think of any specific light, but IMRs are good for something like powering something big in a single cell setup. I'm not really sure how muchcurrent 18650 IMRs are able to push, but IIRC one should be able to deliver 8 to 9 A, so you could build something like a single cell lamp with one SST90 or multiple XM-Ls (and appropriate driver), and fire it up (at least briefly) to it's full potential.

IMRs are for high currents and are said to be inherently safe (won't blow up when current gets too high as LiMn-cells tend to do). Good for building crazy pocket rockets, not much other uses I can think of right now. Their capacity is only about half of what a LiMn-Cell of the same size would have.

I have a 501a with a 1.5 Amp XML drop in in it that I use an IMR 18350 to power. The cell is like 700 mAh or so but easily pushes out 1.5 A or even more. Think of if like pushing a regular LiIon 18650 to 6 Amperes.
