The "Hank Wang, design us a 16340 light"-Thread

Who’s in? And why doesn’t it exist already?

I’d like to see a 16340 light with Andúril, side switch, single emitter, shallow OPR allowing soft spot and wide spill (as in Klarus Mi1C HCRI), stainless steel bezel and good clip. And I want a body color choice. Love his 18650 lights and know there’s often a 18350 tube, but honestly, my preferred size for EDC lights is 16340. It’s just right to have it clipped into the pocket. Size as the Klarus mentioned before, i.e., short!

What am I missing? Many brands have at least one, but I know Zebra gave it up and Sofirn hasn’t considered it in public afaik. Too small a market?

Comments?

Please no, for the sake of my wallet, I don’t want another battery size to invest in.

If I’m not mistaken, that limits heat dissipation. No objections otherwise.

Yes please Wink
No SS please, it would make heat dissipation worse!
Alu would be OK for me!

It would be nice to have something not longer than the Olight 16340 light’s or thr Acebeam TK16, for nice pocketable light Wink
BTW, some comparisons Wink

Klarus shows how short it can be:

Ah, and the Klarus has a protected battery with charging port.

DAIIIUMN!!! That is SHORT Shocked
I am not sure if with all the quality Hank uses (springs, host thickness, etc) it would become so small, but even if it is not so small, it would be nice Wink
And the S1R II is already small Innocent

Yes, I too think the S1RII has a good size. I’d be happy with whatever he came up with. Hm. He just needs to start Big Smile .

I’m more interested in a 14500 light using the SBT90.2. The recently released Vapcell H10 and Shockli 1000mah are monster cells. High capacity and a whopping 10A current!! There aren’t any similarly impressive 16340 cells in existence.

Ok, but this is not the “Hank Wang, bring us the highly impressive 14500 light” Thread. It is about interest in a small 16340 light.

This is a joke right? 10amps is more 2mm flat white territory.

10A is the rated continuous current. Even the NCR18650GA rated at 10A can reach 3,000 lumens on the D4.

I have a bunch of the vapcell 800mah. They are nowhere near as powerful as the Vapcell H10A. In fact the Acebeam 550mah is much more powerful than the Vapcell 800mah

Stop with SBT90.2 crap please. It’s 16340 thread FFS and not “turn me on for 2s before temp protection kicks in”.

A 16340 or 14500 light built to the level of quality that Hank delivers would be great.

A single LH351D, or even better, an E21A quadtrix would be a good match. 1×7135 + FET would be fine. The new 5A constant current driver would be superb.

I wouldn’t personally vote for a shallow reflector – I’d only need a moderate amount of spill. A regular reflector depth is fine for me (Like the S2+ or S2), or a TIR, especially if an appropriate size is available with different beam profiles. But I won’t be picky as long as the beam isn’t ringy.

I suspect I’d be very happy with the Olight S1R II size.

Me too. I have even arranged with the slightly taller S1R. This kind of space allows for all sorts of optics and reflectors as well as protected batteries with charging port.

Makes me sad so few are interested. But that explains why some manufacturers don’t touch this size. So, I’ll be happy with the lights I own as I was all the time before (got the first one in 2017).

I’m not really a fan of 16340, though it would be cool if he made one that took them, it would be pretty damn pocket carryable (that’s not a word) and you could get quite a bit of led power in the light for its size.

16340 would be great with an efficent driver, Anduril and a really good pocket clip.

Isn’t 14500 nowadays a better form factor being slimmer and having the same or more capacity than 16340 and 18650?

Capacity wise, a 14500 and a 16340 are similar, but an 18650 blows them both away.
