Read that some others prefer the look of V2.  But I prefer the look of V1.

Me too. From the photos, one can say that the ano is more shiny (cheap) than the excellent matt finish of the first version. The reflector is the same, probably circuit too. However if they change the UI, that would allow for momentary on, it would be great.

I like the stainless steel bezel. I don't like it's lighter than V1 (despite heavy SS bits).

I'm with you and 2100.  But a guy still has to get this new one.

From close inspection of those pics, I'd suppose the cigar ring and the rings on the ext.tube are rubber made, to improve the hand grip. That alone and the new look makes for a nice upgrade over V1, even in case UI and reflector remained the same.

Your welcome samsat.  I just ordered it from Hank at IOS. Now comes the waiting game. This is what I was told from Hank at IOS about the new 7G5 -  From what the manufacturer describes, the thrower is better and brighter than the old one.

From the CPF description the head size seems to be identical to the old one and the lumen ratings are the same. So I doubt it will be better than the old one, but we'll see, maybe they have worked on the reflector's shape and curvature to improve the throw.

I copied and pasted what the dealer wrote to me. I just want it to be as bright as some of the 7G5's on here that seem way better than others.

Mail person just rang on the door flashlight package in hand.

Very nicely boxed with accessories 5xGITD rings on the extension body and one between the bezel and the lens.

Now, 6 more hours till darkness!

After looking at all the stuff on these two I do not think you can go wrong with either Pounder.  I would go with the one that suits your fancy. If I preferred the UI on the t40cs then that is the way I would go.   That t40cs looks pretty sweet to me.  Of course you could get both!  Laughing

pounder,

I have the 7G5 and the new 7G5 U2 coming, I am more of a collector but the Sunwayman T40CS is a AWESOME light with quality you don't see very often. When you get done buying both of those you need to buy the Sunwayman T20CS that is another great light to have.

cool man..glad to see you will be able to compare them..the t20cs I want so bad but you don't get max output with an 18650..I don't use primaries when I can use an 18650 so this misses the bill..why did they do that? for shame...

Wow rikr that is frustrating me no end.  I ordered the TK 70 from Shane and it came in super fast like two days from Florida.  Unfortunately it was my birthday on 2-8 and the grandkids wanted to buy me something for my birthday so I told them to just get me some Tenergy Premium D Cell 10,000 from Amazon.  Well they ordered me eight of them but they are not here yet.  Yeah I know, caught between a rock and a hard place for sure.  Oh well as soon as I get it up and running I will for sure post here for you all to see.  I promise.  As far as the light in general it is very well made and not as long as I thought it looked on the site but then they never are.  I can not see and marks on the reflectors at all as they are as smooth as a baby's a**.  All threads are already lubed and everythng fits smoothly.  I can also state that the Maha 808M is a very sweet charger and it works wonderful with the AA I just charged.

Pounder,

Won't it get turbo on 2 16340's ? It's plenty bright either way and fits in your hand like a glove.

from the reviews i've read it might or might not..the one on CPF says it will do turbo on an 18650 but not officially..at the end of the thread they said it wouldn't do turbo..but then the reviewer said it would..I don't know..I still want the light lol

edit: from looking at this beamshot it appears the t20cs will do turbo on an 18650..looks freagin bright..i'm back to being pumped about this light lol

I have not tested yet, still to light outside but the website says:-

*Runtime:

  1*18650 (650 lumens) - 90 minutes

  2*18650 (860 lumens) - 110 minutes
