About time I posted this one up, I've had it a few months now.

A fairly simple mod to do is to change the stock black switch to a white Omten version and the clear spacer washer from clear to translucent white, this will give a brighter more even tail light output.
You can also tuck a black o-ring into the boot to give a sort of lighted ring effect.
Then you could swap the LEDs from blue to green and install slightly higher value resistors to cut down on the parasitic drain.
I did these mods first but didn’t take pictures.
I finally opted to remove the lighted switch altogether, install a 15mm Lexel Anduril driver and rebuilt the tail end with titanium, brass, neo magnet, GITD & tritium, this takes care of the parasitic drain of the stock lighted switch Wink
Lumintop Tool AA 2.0 Ti XP-L HI 5A3 - Lxl Anduril - 14500 - Piston Drive - 1050lm.

The tail section has three moving parts, a separately sprung negative connection surrounding the central switch plunger which also has a screw slot for fine tuning the switch movement.
I used the original brass switch retaining ring with 1mm filed off from the thickness and a 1mm steel spring spacer on top.
On the outside you can see a fixed titanium surround then a green GITD halo, 10mm x 8mm neo ring magnet (x3) and the the brass switch plunger with green tritium vial. The central brass part is the only part which moves here.
This new tritium powered switch removes the original LED lighted tail switch parasitic drain which is quite high, with a runtime of around twelve years and no effect on the cells power this is a great improvement Smile

The pill section has a piece of 1mm copper sheet soldered to a 13mm x 4mm x 0.5mm brass tube press fitted & jb welded into it for some extra mass below the titanium shelf, better than empty space…
The 15mm Lexel Anduril driver is filed to fit the original pill cavity shape but is slightly thicker so I filed off around 0.4mm from one end of the battery tube.
The driver has a momentary switch epoxied in place, pressed by the 14500 cell via the tail switch.
The battery tube has 0.2mm copper sheet jb welded into it and three copper spacers between the segments.

The head I replaced the green GITD o-ring with a black version as in stock form the light outputs two different coloured side coronas, one green from the gasket and one purple from the ARC glass.
I may try to find a different 15mm glass for the light still.
I had some real problems getting a satisfactory hotspot with the stock smooth reflector, trying different LEDs and gasket configurations.
The best pattern was probably the stock XP-L HD emitter & gasket though the tint and shift are terrible Facepalm , next was a Samsung LH351D 5000K but it was still crap so I replaced the SMO reflector with a LOP reflector from KD
This reflector is too large at 15.8mm wide so requires around 0.8mm filed off from the top lip and used with a thin gasket.
This setup has removed the ringy artifacts and smooths out the spill with a more focused hotspot Thumbs Up
It also gives a close range donut hole in the hotspot which I believe means better focus of the LED.

Or you could try removing the gasket altogether and keep the stock reflector as jon_slider did coupled with an sw45K emitter which also gave good results.
Djozz also recomended using a thinner LED gasket.

Mind boggling mods!

thanks for sharing pics and info

your spare battery charger/carriers are really cool!

What is the lowest Low your Anduril Tool can reach?

I did not know that.

When I get a donut, it makes me think there is too much space between the LED and the bottom of the reflector.

It is one of the reasons I will delete a stock centering ring, and use something thinner.

Donut is awesome for throwers but in close range EDC items is not needed that much.

Thanks. Maybe 3lm or so, I can’t measure that low.

Très Élégant!

I cant begin to understand the complexity of your mod

> Piston drive electronic tail switch,

is there a spring loaded contact ring on the driver, and full length body tube piston?

> Adjustable Switch activation pressure around 1000g

another brilliant detail.. never seen anyone mention adjustable switch pressure before

just one of many firsts ala CRX
never ceases to amaze

Awesome build!

Are there drivers with better options which are easy to swap?
I hate that low is not low enough on the tool Ti.

By the way, anyone who’s in contact with Lexel?

No, just a spring on the driver and a spring in the tail.
The cell is the piston. The centre part in the tail is threaded for fine adjustment, the surrounding brass part is separately sprung to maintain contact so three moving parts in there.

Maybe a 15mm driver from MTN Electronics? Might not work with the lighted tail though, or AA.
I hope Lexel is alright.

Must have been a dream… Wink

Not really to me, it is a balance between too easy activation and intended activation.
On the same scale I tested a bare momentary switch takes 200g to operate.

The first gen titanium Tool had a full titanium body and only a gold clip.

I love the pocket chargers! I’ve been trying to remove the driver from the new generation ti tool AA 2.0 ( gold plated copper section) but haven’t been able to. Not sure if its glued or soldered in maybe. I would like to use it in my Maratac twisty and replace it with an H17F.

I don’t have the Tool AA Ti, but I can’t tell you that putting a H17F there will be a near impossible or eventually impossible task.
The driver is 17mm, and the pill of the AA normally takes 15mm drivers, that sometimes need to be “shaved” on the sides.
If you look to the description, CRX used a 15mm driver. Not sure if it fits “right on” or if it needed some tweak!
These drivers from LT have those “wings” on each side what makes them more difficult to replace and use in other lights, so calculate the dimmensions well before attempting the mods, or you’ll end with a damaged driver.

If by smallest you mean “slim but not short”, I’d say this may be the “smallest” Wink This is a terrific job Beer
I wish that Lumintop would do one of these versions that the “pseudo copy” of the FW3A, as they are dooing Tired

Actually the driver is 16mm across the wider section of the driver and 15mm across the narrower direction. I had forgotten how close to the edge of the driver the six AMC7135’s are on the bottom side of the h17f though so I am looking for an alternative atm . Initially I built a 15mm mtn fet+1 driver for my Maratac AA twisty which originally uses a driver that’s the same shape board as the Tool but without the ability to use 14500 batteries. Problem was the fact that at 15mm it was too small to make proper contact with the battery tube when turning on and changing modes. And because I had to isolate the ground ring, it flickered and ran terribly. I then removed the driver from the Tool with the help of a little heat to soften the glue and installed that into the Maratac; which is a very nice Improvement indeed. The 15mm fet+1 works in the Tool because the ground ring makes some contact, albeit not much since the battery tube isn’t really holding the driver down since the ID of it is very close to 15mm. I planned to try to use a 17mm driver with enough extra batt- and ground ring surface around the edge & under the solder masking to file it into the shape of the stock 15mmx16mm somewhat oval Tool/Maratac driver. After taking a closer look at 17mm drivers, so far I haven’t been able to find something that will work. Either the components on top are too close to the edge or not enough meat on the bottom batt- ring to take a mm off on each side. Might just have to try solder the 15mm in.
