Challenge: most ridiculous advertised lumens (current record 99.9 trillion lumens)

Let’s see what flashlights we can find with the most extreme advertising!

Rules:

  • Light has to be available for sale to general public or expected to be in the future (eg Kickstarter)
  • Post a screenshot of the light
  • Don’t post a link, in case people follow it accidentally
  • If you have a rough idea then post the actual lumens and how many times greater it’s advertised at
  • Other examples of ridiculous advertising are welcome: throw, water resistance, hardness, etc
  • No prizes for the winner aside from a sense of achievement
  • Have fun

I’ll start off:

Supposedly this is a 90,000 lumen light. I think these are about 200lm in reality, so this is a 450 times increase.

According to ebay this light can be “selected” with the 1,000,000 lm brightness option at time of purchase.
The very cheap looking light has no indication of LED, brand or driver that might be inside, so I assume it will in the low hundreds on lumen.
Let’s assume a conservative 250 lm estimate and this sale would be a 4,000x increase.

I love posting this image every now and then...

I believe it's from a HKJ review.

9 million lumens! This has to be the best one I have ever seen

I see these adds on Pinterest a lot and the funny thing is you can see one person in the video holding the Imalent MS18, priceless!

In Brasil millions of lumens (and hundreds of thousands of watts) are common…

I present you this:

And those are Murrrrcan lumens, too!

See the flag?

3.12 million lumens in a zoomie! What’s not to like?

These are excellent!

I guess you need that 12,000mAh 18650 cell to get more than a second of runtime at 9 million lumens.

Keep ’em coming.

  The only thing this is missing is the landing gear  Free with optical viewing sights

And people still get scammed buying the $700 100 000 lumens Imalent MS18 while they could have had the same output with a 19$ dollar flashlight… very sad

After having seen the reviews of these items… it is shocking how little average consumers know about lumens, flashlights, or technology at all. Most of the reviews are positive! They really believe they had a deal here…. omg

Yeah, if you’re only used to incandescent lights and lights on phones then these cheap zoomies are going to seem very impressive. I think they actually throw a couple of hundred meters when zoomed out (before the switch fails).

I just found a X800 clone on AliExpress for £3.50 ($4.50) with free shipping. I’ve just ordered it and will put it to the test when it arrives.

Found one to beat 9 million lumens:

Here it is folks, the Eighty million lumen flashlight

This new LED technology is as bright as 800 Imalent MS18 flashlights combined.

(Actual lumens about 200, if you’re lucky, so 400,000 times increase)

Eighty Million Lumens ?!?

  :+1:

Plus, it regrows hair!

Well, at least your eyebrows…
