how does a solarforce l2i run with 18650? do they fit well?
planning to buy one soon, but they seem to be difficult to find these days, do they have some sort of problem?

Mine works fine with shorter 18650s - some L2i's apply far too much force to the cell and can't be fully screwed together without damaging the cell. I've never tried any of the 70mm or so protected cells I have in it.
It's a tight fit, at least for the 18650 I tried it with (Trustfire flames and Ultrafire gray).
The L2i has been discontinued, but you may still find some on eBay (there were combos with drop-ins for about 30$ last time I checked) or other stores.
