How about wireless charging pads? Add something like this
https://www.amazon.com/DiGiYes-Standard-Wireless-Charger-Receiver/dp/B00L7CWWLU/ref=sr_1_25?dchild=1&keywords=Wireless+Charging+Receiver+Module&qid=1602196513&sr=8-25

Then get a charging pad . There are some on Vipon.

Get one of those magnetic stick-on chargers, and snip off the magnet/contact part.

I thought at first they were 5V out like for usb, and there’d be internal charging stuff, but nope, the CC/CV charger is external, and just hooks right across the cell.

Or with the magnetic charger, glue up something on the phone that it (intact) could snap onto.

Or you could always buy one of those “lipstick” powerbanks and gut the circuit in the end-cap. Same dealy, output is CC/CV which hooks right to the cell.

Hm? I mean magnetic chargers like on Skilhunts (M200, etc.). Contact, not wireless.

No more at illumn, but the nylon-body Nextorch light with an 18650 (only ’123s at illumn left) had a charger where the holder was just a shell, and the wall-wart had the CC/CV stuff built-in. Coax connector, so only +/- wires, simplicity itself.

This article got me thinking you could position the pickup between the phone and the protector then route the leads directly to the USB leads.

The protector adds some thickness though.
