Thanks for the review, great job with all the photos. I was waiting for this light to be on sale. I get that it’s heavy for a headlamp, but the utility of a battery pack for your phone when camping is really nice. Carrying common set of batteries for both lighting and battery backup.

I didn’t understand the UI chart. When it’s on, “hold click + hold” while on to change brightness or modes (flood vs spot). What does “hold click + hold” mean? Does it mean while it’s on, just hold the button for a second to get it to change modes?

While on if you hold the button it’ll change brightness (lo>med>hi). If you click button once and hold on the second click it’ll switch led modes ( flood led>spot led>both leds). That’s what I gather from the manual, I haven’t gotten the light yet.

Thanks. The review mentioned that this light is for unprotected batteries. Why is that? Does the battery compartment not accommodate a taller battery?

I think they just messed up a line break/enter in the manual Silly I have the light next to me: while on, pressing and holding changes the brightness of the LED (low – mid – high – low – …). Click and click+hold while on changes the LED (spot – flood – both – spot – …), here also the last LED brightness is kept for both lights while changing modes (they synchronize if they’re both on and you press and hold the button).

UNDOCUMENTED: – Tripple clicking while on also changes the LED, and is in my opinion faster than click + click&hold. – When off, holding the button gets the light in moonlight mode. If you press once to go off the moonlight is memorised.

@lumeniac

“I should underline that you can combine Spot and Flood in different modes. There is only one headlamp with such functionalit – YLP Panda 3.0.”

That is wrong.
My Fenix HM65R can do it too.

I just took another look at the pictures. Previous lights I’ve had, the wrist strap hole is always really sharp. I’ve had to file it down, ruining the finish. Does it look like the HD20 actually comes with a bit of chamfer on the strap hole?

There are no sharp edges on mine anywhere. Getting the light in the head strap is not easy though, the rubber isn’t very flexible, but that does mean once the light is in it’s very secure Smile

Idea is cool, but i agree with AED, everything is not finished in this FL.
Flood wold be better in 4k. UI would be better like YLP P3 or with anduril. Power stabilization would be great. Power connection port would be better realised like in Astrolux HL01. Magnet should be stronger.

Some features makes me to want it, but everything other (and price) makes me not to buy it ((

Looks like all Wurkkos products have disappeared on all Amazon warehouses except for Amazon USA.

Hello want to know if something is correct.

The flood+spot in low do a 56h runtime? Sure?

I doubt that. Look at the tests on MID mode in the OP - Spot Mid did about the rated spec at 22 hrs on a 4800 mAh cell. For flood+spot, I'd expect 1/2 that time.

You rarely find a review with low/moon runtime tests because the tests simply take too long.

Best guess I'd make is if you use a 5000 mAh cell, you should get about 28-30 hours on flood+spot in low.

Just what I expected, I did not quite understand the way it is explained, thanks!

This didn’t work for me. Is there a new code you could share? Also, will Army Green be on Amazon soon? Thanks!

Was there even a green color version to begin with? I know that right after release in AE store offered green color too which seemed to sold out quickly, but I haven’t seen single pic of it.

We need to wait until CNY has passed (February 18 or 20, IIRC). Currently, everyone is on vacation.

They wanted to offer batch #2 in black and green. I don't know how far they got in rectifying the USB-C protocol issues yet. My last information was they tried to achieve full compatibility with Apple's charging protocol as well as PowerDelivery (not knowing which voltages/currents). I hope to receiving some updates after CNY.

Is there any possibility they could switch the spot emitter to SST-20 4000K 95CRI? Please, if this is possible it would HUGELY improve this light. I know big lumen specs sell well, but even a small alternate run with all high CRI emitters would sell very well IMO and the SST-20 LED is cheaper than Cree XP-L anyway, so better margin. I would buy at least two, one for myself and one for my wife. It’s just so hard to forgo high CRI in an EDC type light.

Absolutely agree, XP-L doesn’t make sense here. I also don’t love the temps they’ve selected. Not sure what they’re doing in terms of market research… Are they aware there’s a very active community literally telling them what they would purchase?

Just curious – any update on the coupon code? I too agree – based on the review, I’d give this a try, but $50 is a bit much for what it is.

Im sory for off topic but im currently using SP40 3-6hrs a day and wondering if someone can recommend me a more FLOODed light closer to SP40 width that still be on the budget and/or have 2170/type C, the one in this thread seems to be more focused/spot/narrow than my lovely SP40.
Thanks

The flood mode of the HD20 is absolutely much floodier than the SP40. It is a larger and heaver light as well, but basically any 21700 headlamp will be.

You could always add some “DC Fix” to the lens of your SP40 to make the beam more floody.
