This is awesome! Great looking holsters! and leather is always a great choice for longevity and strength as well as look imo. Could I bother you to supply some more pictures of the cuts you made? I understand based on your already generous pictures how the aluminum bar stock plays in, but I’ve never worked with leather before. I do consider myself mildly handy and have a decent home game work shop. Thanks! In advance!

All holsters are described in detail on the TLF or rather in……

“Helicoils sammlung” …. or Helicoils collection and how it came about in detail …. little word or warning … very rich in images …… and in German but just use your browser as a translator.

I’ve made some 860 pictures, 166 MB downsized / 2,36 GB in original format, detailing all my “projects” …. most of which involve leather…… probably 75 to 80 %.

The only downside is that if this continues I will also need a display for holsters and not only for the light that go in them ……… these IKEA displays are great …. sorry I got only 2 ……

Most of my collection but not all, the two MX30’s are missing …… and some other minor stuff.

little Update 

“What cuts you’ve made”: I don’t really make cuts, it’s mostly “freehand and experience” … but when in doubt I occasionally first make a template with paper ……

…. but remember paper has almost no thickness and leather does, so making a curve requires a bigger radius and thus more leather !

With respect to the exosceleton …… this is specially made/acquired from multiple outlets (A) … also the assembly is in stages and the first stage requires the “wrong” materials ……

… in the second stage these are replaced with the appropriate materials for final assembly. Putting this into pictures would be very hard and making a visual aid or manual would require alot of time.

I’ve also come this far with some “trial and error” …. but the idea itself took less than a second …. the physical realization luckily proved to be much more simple than initially thought…

… as what I needed, to make things simple, could be obtained quite easily. But you only discover something like that once you go looking for it. Aside form (A) that is ……

Great info, and i totally get it. When i build small furniture pieces or some new design, it almost always comes from my mind and i do not drw it out unless absolutely necessary. Also, picture documenting leather work when holding peices together during. glue up would be … well very difficult, so … no worries!

More importantly, what is the name of those Ikea Displays? They’re awesome, i was going to make some out of plexi, but with the cost of that it may be the same price to buy what you have (i know ikea is usually priced fairly).

I can no longer buy them here but maybe somewhere else ?

The bottom/back are metal parts of the “top open cube” …. and the back has mountings for mounting it “free” against a wall… front/left/right are glass with metal support along the edges.

The display has no “door” but a metal top lid for keeping the dust out and easy access without the use of hinges !

I bought 2 in 2018 but unfortunately they are not available (here) anymore…… secondhand they are available but prices are often ridiculous.

You’re a bit harsh with this. It’s not my cup of tea as I like the stitching work but I find it very creative and it’s interesting to see what solutions you found.

Also you got some reactions, all of them positive. Don’t expect the internet would explode du to your idea, it’s didn’t do so from mine, neither

Nobody except myself (and in this case my son) care about most of my stuff, even though there’s like 2 or 3 hours of work in each piece. I don’t mind as I enjoyed making it.

As long as you enjoy making the things you do,keep doing it and show it sometimes. It might not get the clicks it may deserve, there’s just too many people doing stuff and there’s too many things we can buy these days, still a custom made piece is something you made with your own hands, not many people can show something like that anymore.
