CRX Noctigon KR4 TiCu

I ordered a KR4 Ti from Hank a few months ago but there was a problem with the driver, the light would shut off within a minute by itself.

Hank was great about the issue after I contacted him and asked me to return the light with paid shipping and sent a replacement that is fully functional I am glad to say. That took about two weeks.

There isn't much to mod on these but here goes...

Noctigon KR4 TiCu Quinta XP-L HI continuous runtimes:

Tailstanding the light alone in 18350 format, 50°C temp setting 21°C room temp with no cooling starting at Mode-5 1072lm gave a settled operating output of 290lm for 55 minutes.
The light maintained above the 1000lm mark for the first minute.
Starting on the same settings but hand held and moving around for cooling gave over 1000lm for 18 minutes. (The blue and cyan graph lines)
Heat dissipation and ambient temperature has a huge effect on output and runtimes of these thermally controlled lights.

The light is set at seven modes with level 3 low and level 150 high so the full range is inclusive in the modes.
Ramping mode is set at level 3 low and 5A max ramp, around level 120, 30 clicks from max.
The regulated 5A output looks like between 1580lm and 1242lm over the first thirteen minutes then tapering down over eleven minutes to 11lm on an 18350 cell.

Noctigon KR4 TiCu XP-L HI 5D - KR4 Anduril - 18350 - E-Tail Sw - 3375lm.

Not really much to improve on this light except some aesthetics and tweaks:

Blackened the heat fin grooves.
Filled the gap between the head & body with heat conductive epoxy.
This is only stuck to the bodies so they can still be swapped easily.
Filled the slots in the copper head with a black thermochromic and green fluorescent glow mix.

I would have preferred tritium vials but the slots are just not deep enough.
Made a copper spacer to fit between the body and tail. CRX doesn't do clips! Smile
Just as well really as the stock clip is quite hideous & sits too far out.
The lanyard ring is nice enough though.
Installed a 19mm x 14mm x 1mm neodynmium ring magnet to sit flush in the tail and made a copper surround to fill most of the remaining gap.
There is a thin ring of thermochrominc/ GITD mix around that copper ring too.
I felt the extra copper I installed balances out the big chunk at the head.
I put a layer of kapton tape around the outside of the switch signal tube for a snug centalized fit and some carbon fibre wrap on the insides for a better battery fit.
Two 4mm circles of copper tape on the brass switch nub and some foam donuts in there as well to remove the slight slop of the tail switch operation.
Green 6mm x 1.5mm tritium vial in the switch button.
I did play around with a diffuser gasket for the aux LEDs but the effect wasn't that great so I removed it.
Copper tape lined the 18650 tube.
Firmer o-rings replaced the soft red stock versions.
Sanded flat and polished the switch tube ends.

As you can probably tell, this light will 99% be used in the 18350 format.

Overall I like this light, my second version of this as the first had problems so it was returned and Hank of Intl Outdoor Store made good with a new one which I hear was thoroughly tested before dispatch this time Wink

My first Anduril light with multi colour auxiliary emitters.
I still have the gripe about the 4 clicks for ramp config plus a new one now..
A configuration setting within lockout mode? Erm... No! Just stop this silliness please! LOL Facepalm
Also the rainbow voltage levels I can't make head nor tails of, a simple green, yellow, blue then red would be much preferred here.
I'll use the green low aux for standby and red low or high aux for locked out.

What size orings did you use? The stock ones leave a bit to be desired.

Am I understanding correctly that the side-slots glow is caused by the light heating up? That’s awesome.

No, it’s a trick Big Smile
The black thermochromic GITD mix is just becoming clear due to the heat.
