Need advice for next light purchase.

Hey everyone. Most of my lights are consumer-grade but I have a Fenix PD35 plus the Manker EDC Muscle Combo0 (MC13 & E14III) on the way.

I am now looking for something robust, Maglite, beatdown capable but with a good balance of lumens and throw something at or under $100.

Any advice is appreciated.

What do you mean beatdown capable ? I hope you mean very high durability from drops…. If you mean for its purpose to use as a bludgeoning tool I personally wont aid in such an endeavor.

I meant in the interest of self-defense.

Knowing that IF you should need to hit a person or animal with it, it would actually be useful for such.

Be sure to get one that can be used both as a brick smaher and glass broker.

4D or 6D Maglite ML300 running Soshine or Tenergy LSD NiMH cells.

Well…… Based on my understanding of law if you carried a “flashlight” a kin to that of a 6D cell maglite for the sole purpose to be in a scenario that the NEED to hit a person or animal and that was the intent you would be breaking the law as the intent was to cause harm and or mischief.

IF you claim to need a flashlight to hit an “animal” whilst camping the animal would probably be more pissed off than anything and probably maul you….

Thanks for the idea, AND the laugh. I never even realized I might need to broker glass or be a smaher of brick!

Wow. You really seem to have a natural inclination towards assuming the worst of each persons meaning, intentions, and just in general.

Obviously, a flashlight is not my main, only, or first, choice of a weapon. However, as an Army persian Gul vet, I tend to think of all things in term of potential SHTF situations and with an eye towards field expediency. I certainly don’t need to be told that a flashlight isn’t very likely to stave off a bear attack, lol. That being said, anything sturdy enough to use as a weapon is better than no weapon and choices and options are a net positive.

I was really thinking of dogs or coyotes on nature walks though, or as a far less potentially lethal option should someone act violently in my vicinity.

IDK where you live, but here in Central Indiana we can carry pretty much any weapons we want and we don’t have to explain ourselves so long as they are utilized for legitimate defense purposes.

Whoa! A typed instance of a Freudian slip, perhaps?

Thanks. I tend towards grammar Nazism myself. Mea Culpa I have erred. I guess I should refrain from typing out replies while watching TV, LOL.

i would trust my Nitecore MH27, Wowtac BSS v2 and Olight M2R pro for robustness.

just for today.

THANKS, I may have to try this!

i never understood laws like that. how do you prove intent unless you initiated the physical confrontation?

Buy Maglite 6D. Will fit your needs.
Mike

I’m considering it. I bought the Coleman today and am thinking of maybe getting the 6D version. It seems to be not quite as heavy as the Mag, but I really like all the rubberized coating…
