A light with Nichia 219B sw45 that one can still buy today

Hi all,

I’m new to this addiction hobby, but is already becoming somewhat of Hi CRI / good tint baby it seems.
I see very positive regards about Nichia 219*B* sw45k with its rosy tint and eager to try one, but since this LED is discontinued, as far as I understand, it’s really hard to find a light that hosts 219B and is in stock.

So far I found:

Manker E21 (local Aussie stock)
Fireflies ROT66 II and PL47G2 claim to have the B version in them
Nitecore MT06MD
ReyLight pineapple mini - but saw people complain about it having notable PWM

Any others that are still available? - I’m not after a particular format (pen, EDC, etc.). Just want to see this LED shining.

Thank you.

Firelies E07 as well. There is a user here, Bob_McBob who will customize the Zebralight SC64C LE with a 219b in whatever tint you like including sw45k. A little pricey, but very much worth it, many consider it the ultimate EDC light.

You can also get the 219b of your choice and swap it into many lights. For example, I have an FW3A that is modded with sw45k 219b triple, it is one of my favorite lights. Only the most basic solder work is required to do this, especially if they are already mounted on an MCPCB. Desolder two wires, remove existing star, install 219b star with new thermal paste, re-solder wires. and you are done.

You might also consider lights with the Nichia E21A, which has IMO just as good tint as 219b. I have 2 Noctigon KR4 with 3500k and 4500k E21A, I like them a lot, better even than my 219b FW3A.

Thanks mbp. I just ordered D4v2 with 4500k E21A who’s light also looks very well on pictures - just before reading your reply

Where can I buy 219b itself nowadays? I have couple of Convoys S2+ with LH351D which I’ll happily sacrifice for 219b replacement.

For Zebralight mod I guess I first have to decide that I like this led THAT much. But it’s good to know there is an option.

Sold out now, but he should get new stock.

I think the little Eagletac AAA light still has them installed. I might be mistaken.

Eagletac D25AAA

Fireflies sells a neat looking stainless AA light with an sw45k option.

I don’t have one but I’m tempted. Simple L-M-H operation with a reverse clicky and no memory. Always starts on low.

The product page says it will also work with a 14500, but will get hot on high.

It’s also available on Amazon but still ships from China.

Illumn has some nice Malkoff dropins and individual 219b leds with a nominal cri of 95. I really like mine. I have a dropin and a modified flashlight with their 219b. Everything looks better and I still can get nice output.

I have this exact light ordered directly from Fireflies. It’s one of my favorite daily carry lights. Though fit and finish can be inconsistent. The tail switch was not torqued all the way in on my example, causing the tail to be slightly proud of the body and wobbly on tail standing. I was able to make a tool to safely torque the brass ring down without marring the surface. Now it tail stands perfectly.

Great looking little AA/14500 lights. I have quite a few of them. Just a word of warning though. They have horribly slow PWM at low and mid settings. If that doesn’t bother you then they are awesome. I am not sensitive to PWM so it doesn’t bother me. Good price for a nice SS light.

Thanks! Expressed my interest.

Interesting light. Thanks! Unfortunately this guy/girl wants more for shipping to AU than the actual item cost :frowning: In all other places there seem to be only XP-G2.

These look like very nice lights. Why do they hide them “Other flashlights” section? - that’s why I’ve missed them. Too bad they have a notable PWM. My eyes are quite sensitive to that stuff.

For now I ordered Manker E21 which should arrive next week. I’ll see how I like this led and will take it from there.

Many thanks for your replies!

This is the way! I have swapped to 219B on a couple lights including a thrunite TH20 (surprisingly tight beam compared to the XPL it replaced). Next up is an older Four Sevens quark mini.

I have found the sw45 to be a little on the cool side but maybe that’s a preference. If you like the 219b also check out some of the SST-20 in 4000k. Some people say they are green but I have multiple samples and all of them are a wonderful neutral white.

I have a Massdrop Brass AAA from back when they were using 219B. It's in good condition with a nice patina. The tint is very pretty but I've come to hate the way brass makes my hands smell. So I've given up on carrying it.

I don't know if these are worth anything but feel free to PM with an offer. I can ship it with a freshly charged Eneloop Pro.

Sorry about that. Forgot about the AU part of the deal.

Aww shoot, I can’t stand visible PWM. Thanks for letting us know!

I didn’t think the eagletac lights had a 4500k . The tint on them isn’t as nice as many of my lumintop tools with the 4500k nichias .

Low freq. pulse width modulation should be illegal.

Does it take protected 14500 batteries?

Supposedly Enogear (the original manufacturers of the SS AA light and the Copper Cube lights) was absorbed or became(?) Fireflies Flashlights. I’m not sure because I wasn’t around when that all was happening but that’s what I’ve gathered from reading forum posts. Some guess that these “Other flashlights” flashlights are put there because they’re ‘New old stock’ or some such thing.

I have one of the SS AA’s on the way to me in sw45k, I’m not sure I’ve ever had a light with visible PWM so we’ll see how that turns out. The pics of the beamshots look really nice and rosy though.

Yeah, Mateminco MT07 in SST-20 4000k already on order

Thanks Chronovore. I’ll keep it in mind definitely. I first want to get my hands on one of those lights, see if the tint plays to my soul and then start the hunt if any
