I’m in for a couple. I’m sure some friends would be too.

why 660nm? as far as seeing things at night in red lighting with human eyes, 620-630nm is superior.

I’m definitely in for either 4000K or 2700K, provided we’re looking at 90+ CRI and a moonlight really that low.

Let call it D25WR

with SST20 4000K (or 2700K) + SST20DR 660nm is no problem.

If the price $15.99 for D25WR without battery; $17.99 for D25WR with battery, how do you guys think?

Come on guys, I need some confidence!

Awesome, I am interested in 4 pieces

Barry, why don’t you rename the thread to

  • [Interest list] High CRI + RED dual headlamp Sofirn D25WR* or something like that,
this will attract more people from other forums as well. Big Smile

Interested.

The SP40 is quite throwy. I’d suggest to have a more floody headlamp option… so if someone is interested in a ‘more throwy’ headlamp, then the SP40 can be suggested, if he likes a more floody (for close-up use), then this headlamp can be used)

I think SP40 has a balance between throw and flood. We tried LH351D on SP40 but beam is not great in 5000K, maybe SP40 LH351D 4000K is a good option, if people want this.

I’m interested in at least a couple! (Just in case my initial response was ambiguous.)
This seems like a great inexpensive camping light for gifting, and I’d really like to see this project happen!

Hi Barry. I swapped LH351D 5000k into my SP40 even though I liked 4000k stock.
What was wrong with the beam? I can take some beamshots without dc-fix if needed.

It will be great if you share the beam picture. Engineer told SP40 with LH351D 5000K ‘s beam is greenish.

It will be great if you share the beam picture. Engineer told SP40 with LH351D 5000K ‘s beam is greenish.

Here it is:

From left to right all with lowest mode: Sofirn SP36 BLF with stock LH351D 5000k 90 cri, SP40 with LH351D 5000k 90 cri, HC30 with SST40 5000k and BLF A6 with 4000k XPL.

SP40’s LH351D is:
Product Code: SPH WH T L3 D A 0 G F4 RT S6

Color Temp.: R (Neutral White 5000K)

Voltage: F4 (2.6V)

Luminous Flux: S6

(Got it from Kaidomain)

It looks better vs. LH351D’s that SP36 uses.

Here is other one with SP40 with dc-fix, SP36 and HC30 (SST40):

And some more comparing LH351D to SST20’s.

From left to right: Fenix MC11 with 2700k SST20 + dc-fix, MF01 Mini with 4000k SST20’s and SP40 with LH351D with dc-fix:

Second pic same setup, but SP40 is without glass and reflector:

It seems a bit green/blue IF compared to SST20’s atleast on lowest setting, but I’m not an expert on these. LH351D looked kinda better if compared to others in my previous post, but with these its not the prettiest tint anymore I say. OP reflector helps a lot though.

EDIT: And all together now:

Fenix MC11 SST20 2700k, MF01 Mini SST20 4000k, BLF A6 XPL 4000k, SP40 LH351D 5000k no dc-fix, SP36 BLF LH351D 5000k, HC30 SST40 5000k.

I’d like to see Sofirn come out with an AA headlamp as well – but in this case, they’re constrained by using the existing D25 as a base.
(If they were working from scratch, it’d take a lot more time and expected sales to get that project going.)
