Buying advice: EDC with 13cm length and good grip

Hi Guys,
I need you help for a new flashlight.

  • I am looking for something that is between 12 and 14cm long (sorry I dont have an inch ruler here)
  • all black
  • needs to have the possibility to have the maximum brightness on the first click
  • tailcap switch
  • as bright as possible, does not have to be able to keep maximum brightness for more than 2 minutes
  • not too thick, maybe around 2,5 cm
  • good grip (meaning hand should have a good grip on it)
  • NO zoom function
  • Preferrably no tactical bezel
  • as cheap as possible;-)

Do you have any ideas for me?

Besides being only around 10cm long and 2.1cm diameter, and being long out of production, the Sofirn SF10 is pretty close. It’d be difficult to find one in a store, so you’d be left hoping somebody is selling one. They were dirt cheap when they were out (between $6-8 USD).

In terms of 18650 lights, the Convoy S2+ with the Biscotti firmware sounds like the best budget option for your needs. It’s 118mm x 24.1mm, and can be configured to always start on the highest mode.
(I’m not sure if there’s a black variant with the Biscotti firmware, but you can message Simon on the Convoy store to ask if it could be swapped in.)

The Thorfire TG06S would’ve been a great AA light to meet your requirements - but unfortunately, it’s also no longer produced (and people who still have it tend to hang onto it).

The length is very important to me, 12cm would be minimum, 14 maximum as written above. So S2+ would be on the edge. Also it is purely cylindrical so not much grip to hold on to. What would be your suggestion for an LED that has the highest brightness? sst40?
