I have a definite need for a light like this one, but I’ll need proof of the strength of the tail magnet before I buy. I have too many magnetic tail lights that use weak magnets and can barely hold the weight of the light, and only when attached to a thick metal surface.
I want the kind of magnet that comes in the EMISAR D4SV2. That bad boy can safely hang from a single screw head.

Texas, that’s my reference light also when it comes to magnet strength, what a beast. It really puts others to shame.
On a long light like this a weak magnet would equal “no magnet” for me.
I have a Big Larry that has a magnet that compares to the emisar, it’s a great light for out in the garage but would love something like this for work. Better battery choice for me. Unfortunately this is way out of budget.

Worklights are often forgotten and the ones that can compete with this output rating are huge, HOWEVER at 3,000 lumens it won’t be producing constant output, so I hope to see at least 1,000lm sustained for 1hr. Also why don’t go with 21700 instead since size isn’t critical in this form factor? The lenght is already there they just need to make the battery Tube wider.

The clip is in a stationary position and that limits its usefulness. You’re not going to clip that thing in a pocket to carry it because it’s too wide with that clip orientation. Trying to clip it to any sort of clothing item has to be front dead in center to be useful and that doesn’t work most of the time. The thing is really too big to be an EDC light. And if you put a bigger battery in there then the carrying and mounting position options are even worse. It says there will be three LED options but they are only showing two currently. I edc an armytech wizard pro as a backup/ work light without the strap, and I don’t think I would ever reach for this first. But I will wait to see more of the specs and hopefully watch a review.

strange idea not to use 21700 here

device losts lots of potential

I agree with @will34 on the cell size. If this is going to be my everyday work light I’ll want to use those lumens and not worry about conservation.

I agree that 21700 would be better but nevertheless I find the light interesting. Is it the first quality light in roughly this format?

21700 better as a work light
18650 better as a headlamp

I am struggling to see how this would work as a headlamp…
Very cool light though.

3000 lumens for 10 seconds out of 18650 cell is pointless in a worklight. It looks to be pretty heavy as well. Sorry Acebeam but it’s obvious you didn’t design any worklights before.

18650 not enough capacity for a work lamp. 21700 would have made much more sense.

I bought some work lights on Banggood, all trash. With good reviews I will definitely get this one.

Most work lights out there fail or show a fatal flaw after put to real use.

I have two of the Prism Claymore (korean brand, also rebranded as gearaid) camping lights, 1,000lm+ with a huge 20,000mah battery. Constant non pwm output from start to finish even in highest level. 80+ CRI Samsung LEDs and 3 selectable tint. These are camping/photo/video lights but serves as awesome work lights. It comes with a hook which hangs perfectly on the open engine hood, and has a 1/4” thread so I use them with a cheap tripod. It isn’t compact by any means, but still smaller and lighter compared to brand name work lights using 20V packs or the Chinese ones with a generic COB and non regulated output.

Sorry for hijacking this thread but worklights are not a common subject around here… I could do a quick review in a separate thread if anyone’s interested.

Wurkkos HD20. Same length and tail magnet. The differences are 21700, 2 different emitters flood and spot that can be run independently or together, type C external charge and power out, lanyard hole, 2 way adjustable clip, headband and?. The UI will obviously be more complicated. I haven’t really looked to see how complicated it is.

Acebeam produces a very good 1X AA headlight as the H40. I use one often in the shop & camping. Good ramping plus one-press moonlight on my preferred 2-strap headband.

My preferred general work headlight is the Panda 2M CRI. Not exactly rugged as a work light, but output is sufficient for most anything I need a good headlight for. It's about as heavy as I would want, even on a 3-strap headband.

If Acebeam could produce the PT40 as a headlight with a separate emitter T-head on the front, and a cell holder on the rear, on a 2-strap headband, and do away with useless (to me) turbo, I could justify the premium price. As delivered, the PT40is an overpriced, front-heavy & clunky non-starter.

My wishlist for PT40 v2, for it to become a real work light.

-Ditch the headlamp option, looks hideous and unpractical
-Make it 21700
-Add magnets on the bottom and on the back
-In the taicap, add a folding hook, like those found in the camping lanterns.
-Make the clip the rotating, removable type
-Give it real sustained output modes, and make the 3,000lm as a momentary burst option. Nobody needs 1,500lm for 3 minutes then drop to 800lm in a WORK light.
-Optional USB C port to allow it to function while charging

Would happily pay $100 msrp

With exquisite appearance, excellent performance and waterproof rating up to IPX-8 standard, Acebeam develops a multipurpose pocket work light PT40 which is successfully meeting a need for outdoor sports activities, industrial work and vehicle repair.
