(review) Thrunite BSS v4 Best 18650 tactical I have used

The title says it. this is the best 18650 tactical flashlight I have. The combination of features and accessories is more than I've gotten from any other company at this price. So far it can easily be an effective self defense weapon, day to day around the house light, map-reading in the dark light (I use the red filter getting ready for the gym before the sun comes up), or primary emergency light in your house or car.

LED/Reflector: First the SST70 is the most powerful single LED I've ever used in a single 18650 light it easily pumps out close to 2,500 lumens with out any issues. The light quality is clean and whiter than I imagined it would be at 6500 kelvin. It uses a smooth mid-depth reflector which gives a powerful spot and good amount of throw. Personally when thinking about self defense, pointing this is in someones face should be the first go to.

Mode spacing and brightness: This is very bright. Really, I know we all use bright flashlights and some are much bigger, but on turbo its bright even reflected off the wall. The mode spacing is good. I haven't played with it too much as I almost exclusively use either direct to moonlight, with a single long press of the side button, or direct to turbo with a double tap. For camping, I would imagine a middle/low brightness would be all you need.

Bezel: Wow this thing is aggressive! which is awesome. It's also incredibly strong. I spent a few minutes banging it front first into a tree (sorry for the tree really, but it's in the name of testing.) and there's no visible damage at all to the bezel or the function of the light. It would certainly do damage to a person, though hopefully it never comes to that. If you happen to be holding it while walking to your car at night and something got in your way, they would not be happy. Also, it screws on and off so easily that if you want to hold a normal looking light and not scare anyone you're good.

Size/battery: It comes with a 3100 mh battery which is great. The overall size is in between most compact 18650's and many "tactical" lights which tend to be bigger. it's also very lite and easy enough to stick in a pocket and not swing around.

Color/feel: I got the desert tan and really like it. The anodization is smooth and consistent. I'm also happy to have a standard option that isn't black. It also has an understated but very effective jimping on the entire body that moves away from the sandpaper style grip. Think more brutalist architecture.

Tail stand/rear button: It tail stands well and good lanyard attachment hole. Lanyard is included. The design is good so it can stand even with the lanyard attached. Waterproofing: Works fully submerged in water. See pics

Charging/indicator/button: Charges fast. Power indicator is clear. Button is well indexed and has a nice click. Charging wire is included. That said I haven't had to charge it a lot, I just top it off. I think this is perfect for emergency and day to day flashlights. I have gotten away from external chargers because I hate bringing them with me and don't want to give them as gifts. I can take this on a trip for a week and charge it from my computer like my work headset and it's always ready.

Red filter: This is great. I leave it on and use it at night. Like the bezel, it goes on and off super easy and is really secure. Not much loss of light and it doesn't shock my eyes in the early morning.

All in all, this will be my "go-to" flashlight for quite a while. Very happy with it.
