Ebay 30Q fakes?/More evidence.

Hi. I decided to take a chance on some Samsung 30Q’s off of ebay the other day in preparation for my new d4v2. Since my Copper E07 is MIA Sad

Anyway, they only tested to 2000mah on my opus bt-c3100 which seems pretty far off, even though it only discharges to 2.8V~ (no pics of capacity yet)

Opus charger should still show around 3000mah for authentic 30Q’s right? They seem authentic from the outside, but when I tore the wrapper off there’s absolutely no stamps/writing on the bare metal cell. That confirms they’re fakes right?

I just want to make sure I’m correct before I file a claim with ebay. Thanks for any help. And I hope this helps anyone else trying to verify if their 30Q’s are legit or not. Also, what’s the best price for authentic 30Q’s shipped to america right now? Say 2-4 of them.

$4.99 plus shipping at Illumination Supply, they always ship fast and only sell authentic cells: https://www.illumn.com/18650-samsung-3000mah-inr18650-30q-high-discharge...

The shipping is what always kills me. But yea. I’ll most likely go with which ever reputable place has the best shipping. Still no confirmation on those being fake cells though?

I got real ones maybe two weeks ago. Wrapper looks kinda same, but mines got that extra warning text and last numbers are 141. No idea what that means.
Also I can see dim text under the wrapper I guess, one is near positive terminal and says L30Q K5FB1, about middle C02, 4535 B3 and near wrappers texts W23 and something else too.
Again I have no idea what these mean or are they printed in all 30Q’s, but they are exactly same in all of my 4 newest 30Q’s.

Yup, eBay fakes. I almost always buy from a reputable store, but on one occasion I saw an eBay deal that was just too good to pass up on some Samsung 35E’s. They were definitely fakes. Weight was way different than known authentic cells and my S4+ showed consistent capacity at 2200 mAh. The size of the printing on the cells was also larger than on legit ones. They wanted to cut a deal for 50% refund but I refused and ended up with a 100% (as should happen) and I kept the cells.

Now that I think about it, I should tear the wrapper off one and see if I can find any markings.

Yea, I figured if they were fake I could probably just get a refund and keep the cells, or return them on their dime. Oh wow. I was about to post a link for educational purposes. But the listing was already taken down. “This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing.” So that’s nice.

I have bought batteries on eBay before I gotten fakes before but it been because they were non brand name batteries

The ones that I stay from are seller who try to sell batteries that supposedly brand name batteries but price is to good to be true

Now I will buy name brand batteries that are used if they are taken out of service and the seller has checked the milliamperes hour rating is reasonable for the price they want for the batteries

I have only been burned once from a seller that claimed that the batteries that were supposed to be good and found more than what they claim should be good were not I had more bad ones than good ones

I got a little more than half of what I paid for them back in a refund and was able to keep them

80% of the time I got what I paid for

Samsung Batteries

One note on the pink wrapped batteries I personally have not had good results from them tend to test a lot lower than what the specifications say they should be ( could be fakes I do not know )

The gray wrapped ones test a lot better at least for me

The light pink wrapped one do a little bit better

The light green / darker green batteries test very good

The Samsung batteries I have tested before the ones used in power tools battery pack for most of them test very good
