Nichia has a new large headlight LED, one of the largest I’ve seen so far.
- it’s 10.8V, needs a boost driver
- 6000K, unrated CRI
- 4.9 mm², 4000+lm @ 5.5A
- highly non-square, 1.4 by 3.5 mm
- 8 by 8 mm package with electrical contacts at the top

We’ve just seen SFT-70 prototypes in the Simon’s hands. They are 6/12V which causes troubles. This thing has the same problem - it needs a boost driver. It is likely to be hard to get. And may cost more.
But it performs even better, likely producing more output from a certainly smaller die.
Though the shape will cause a funny beam in many lights.
Note: the LED is rated to deliver 4000lm at 5A when cold. But is rated to do 5.5A continuously. Which is a bit over 4000 lm when hot.
