I’m wanting to build a ceiling lamp with maybe 6 to 8 LEDs and need an AC to DC power supply. I see quite a few of these on fasttech as well as a few other sites I normally order from, but since this will be wired in a home, I really would like the UL certification. I’ve been searching, but all I seem to come up with are the same imported drivers with CE and RoHS stamps on them. Also, the components seem to be the weak link in the cheaper drivers. I want to make sure the internals are made with quality components that will last a while. If anyone is aware of a store where these can be purchased I’d really appreciate it. :+1:
Minor contribution, but OSHA states this as the list of nationally recognized laboratories, of which UL is the best known, but not the only one qualified to do product safety testing.
i wasn’t aware that UL had anything to do with the quality of components. Fill me in on how that works.
Seems like it is more about insurance and liability and legal coverage for the manufacturer—it just tests products and then charges huge $um$ to use their logo?
i doubt any manufacturer of low cost AC/DC power supplies would want to spend the money just to get usage of the logo, but there might be some out there.
Too bad UL won’t provide any useful search information to consumers—you can’t even get info about a UL product with a reg number, so what’s the point? It’s about the money not the consumer.

Kennybobby, I believe you are correct with pretty much everything you mentioned. I guess if I had to narrow down what I’m looking for, it would be a driver with quality components. I don’t want a resistor or capacitor failing 6 months down the road.
