What did I do? IF25A

Hello All,
Recently got a IF25a and it has started flickering momentarily while smooth ramping up or down. It doesn’t do it in stepped ramping and a fresh battery and reset also have not corrected it. It’s my first 21700 and I haven’t yet received the 21700 batteries that I’ve ordered. It worked correctly for a few days. Could it be me not knowing Anduril well enough? I’m also not too savvy the more technical it gets. Any suggestions are appreciated. Got it from Ali/Sofirn.

Huh, what date does the “version check” return? 15 clicks from off. Then it blinks out the date the code (firmware) that runs on a control chip inside was constructed, in YYYY MM DD format. 2020-06-02 corresponds with 2 blinks (“2”), one very short blink (“0”), 2 blinks (“2”), one very short blink (“0”), another very short blink (“0”), 6 blinks (“6”) and so on.

My SP36 also “flickers” in the lower rap, see https://budgetlightforum.com/node/76192

Oh right the IF25A might have an Anduril version that does not have this version check yet… So I don’t think it’s a firmware problem like the one I have… Maybe a bad connection? Did you try cleaning the springs/battery connectors with Isopropol alcohol or something?

But the light worked fine the first few days you got it? That’s weird…

One of my FW3A’s flickers when it gets to high mode when ramping unless the head tube ends are clean and it’s tightened down as much as possible. When clean and tightened down it doesn’t flicker at all.

Cleaned, retightened and charged. No luck. It’s hard to capture accurately but I’ll try to get a vid up…

Did you ever figure this one out? I just got an IF25A, I mainly got it to use as a video camera light. But I have been using it around the house for the past week.

Mine will do a little (very small) flicker as it ramps up and down. Its no where near as pronounced as yours. The instructions say it does this to indicate when it transitions in or out of the 7135 circuit regulation. Lower output levels under ~150 lumens are 7135 regulated, above that its FET-DD.

I was coming here to update my experience and found a new response.
I think my title is appropriate because it’s working fine now. I really did nothing to fix it except turn it on several days (weeks) later and it is now smooth ramping fine. I did not figure it out…it’s just working. Ghosts in the machine……

Mine has been doing this for the past few months as well. Seems like a common problem.

I thought that was a feature of andrul. Isn’t it supposed to blink when it reaches max?

Smooth ramping with Anduril is supposed to blink when it hits max regulated mode just before activating the FET. This is by design and is feature of Anduril.

It’s unclear from the video if that’s what the original poster is experiencing.

OP is no longer experiencing the issue. It was definitely not the max mode indicator at that time. As mentioned above I tried the light again several days/weeks later and it suddenly worked fine. I cannot explain it but I know it was acting weird when I first got it.
