Micro-usb batteries

Hello glorious hivemind

How do we feel about batteries with micro-usb charging sockets?

Torn between that and a regular protected battery. It would be handy i suppose as long as its reliable… is it just something else that can break?

Thanks,
Mark

I think Micro USB is pretty much dead in favor of USB-C. USB charging isn’t something I really need, but I can see how it could be nice in certain circumstances. If I’m interested in an item it’s a dealbreaker if it still uses micro.

With 18650 batteries it’s micro usb or nothing.

I have ~25 chargers here, so the only USB charging light that I have is the JetBeam Mini 1, that Ven got me and that light is the charger.

Don’t want them, don’t need them.

I love them and have many, in various sizes. My favourities are Folomov ones which can also act as powerbanks. 21700 Acebeams are similar and they are Type C but I don’t have many 21700 lights.

Yes, Micro USB is a drawback. And having to remove the cell for charging is less comfortable than just plugging a cable in.
But I can accept it.
And, BTW, DQG Tiny 4th with Folomov 18650 is one of my favourite lights. Very usable beam, small size, long runtime and powerbank as well.

I love batteries with a built in USB port for EDC... out in the field, at work, in the car, I dont have to worry about carrying a dedicated charger, I can just pop the battery out, set it to charge with the cell phone charger I'm already carrying, and pop in a new battery, my light is never out of commission waiting to be recharged.
