What does SMO and OP mean for aluminium reflectors?
What are the differences?

SMO is smooth, gives about 10% more throw and OP is orange peel texture that makesa beam a bit softer without sharp hotspot edges.

Actually the difference between smo and op is just a few percent.

It may only be a few percent for some depths and shapes but I doubt we can make a blanket statement about that for all.

The throw difference between smooth and op reflector really depends on the degree of roughness of the op reflector and its size and the size of the LED. I describe here:

Probably not that much. Orange peel has a larger effect with small emitters. You can think of each little segment of the orange peel texture as having a focus point close to but at a random location around the regular focus point. With a small emitter many of the segments’ focuses are located off the light emitting surface which reduces the effective frontal area of the reflector and reduces throw. I’ve measured large differences, for example S2 with dedomed xpg2 op reflector had only ~60% of beam intensity compared to smooth.
