SMO vs OP aluminium reflector

What does SMO and OP mean for aluminium reflectors?
What are the differences?

...and if you want to have a light that came/comes with both, that would be the BLF GT94.

A little bit more throw and a little bit more beam width?

Or a little bit more beam width and a little bit less throw?

Take your choice, or take both.

Actually the difference between smo and op is just a few percent.

It may only be a few percent for some depths and shapes but I doubt we can make a blanket statement about that for all.

The throw difference between smooth and op reflector really depends on the degree of roughness of the op reflector and its size and the size of the LED. I describe here:

I’ve measured large differences, for example S2 with dedomed xpg2 op reflector had only ~60% of beam intensity compared to smooth.
