Collection of my BLF LT1 mods

During the last few weeks I’ve done (or planned) several mods on my BLF LT1. Instead of creating a thread for each mod I’ll collect all of them here.

Programming adapter

To flash Anduril 2 (available from ToyKeeper’s server) I needed a pogo pin adapter. I used my usual technique: Crimp pins to IDE cable, glue it to a piece of plastic and heat shrink it with hot glue inside.

CAD model

To make physical mods easier I created a CAD model of the LT1 in FreeCAD. Most external and some internal features are included.

A STEP file is available at Thingiverse, the FreeCAD model will be included later after some cleanup: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4714912

Base

I know, there’s a base from CGGZILLA, but I didn’t like the design and made my own. There’s a groove at the bottom to glue in some foam to make it more stable and less slippery.

Shade

iggyggi made one, but it was rather small. I tried to make a bigger. The first version was created with a complex mount using springs and moving parts. This was all not necessary, small plastic clips are enough. Still work in progress, there’s already a new version on my PC.

edit: Version 1 + 2 now on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4769484

I’m interested in your shade design. I like the simplicity of it. Do you plan on uploading the design to thingiverse when done?

Very nice HP! I like the shape, size, and best of all the snap in feature.

Just a tip- you might want to give the outer perimiter of the shade a thickened ‘bead’ similar to a small o-ring so that cracks dont propagate from there in the event of a fall. Doesn’t add much material or weight but increases the crack resistance considerably.

Yes, once it is “finished” I’ll upload it.

Good idea! I’ll keep it in mind when I work on it again.

Really cool stuff and really making me want to click “buy” on that Ender 3 in my cart.

Very nice mods, especially that lamp shade and base. Thanks for posting. Now, to find someone who will print me a set!

VERY nice lamp shade! I like it, it make me think of ‘sci-fi’ movies. Thank you for sharing with all of us even though I do not have lt1 lantern.
