For many years since I have been collecting (since about 2000,) I only bought black lights. Colored bodies seemed corny to me. I have now changed my mind completely and I almost never buy black unless that is the only color it comes in (typically Sofirn.)
For example, the FT02S, I plan on buying the green and the sand, will skip black all together.
When it comes to the MF01S, the colors look too bright, too loud, so I went with black.
How do you feel about colors? When multiple colors are offered, which one do you gravitate to? Do you buy black bodied ones?
I like different colors to choose from.
I prefer certain shades of blue or green.
I will buy black as well.

I try to avoid black versions, just because they look so basic these days and yeah I have enough those already. Green is my favorite single color, but would love to see more multicolored camo ones.
Also matte colors look pretty nice. Sofirn orange is also one nice color. Not sure how that would work on bigger lights.
When not buying titanium, I like the Sofirn colors of orange and green.

all my lights are grey or black

Black is my preference for its black body emissive thermal properties more than anything cosmetic. I have some gray lights too and I honestly like the cosmetics of gray better though.
My flashlight + watch reviews... enjoy!!
black
natural aluminum
(NOT copper or stainless)
gray
blue
red
gold
one thing i have found useful is to put glow in the dark tape on my lights
so i can find them – you guessed it – in the dark
the tape glows about 200 times brighter than any paint

I try to get any color other than black these days. Just because enough lights are only available in black, I don’t need to add to that list when I have an alternate choice.
Purple is my favorite, though.

+1
C8+ should appear in purple soon. Instant buy.I got a message from Simon that there will be no purple because there is too little demand for this color. He has only produced orange and green.
The Sofirn green is probably my absolute favorite. Not sure how it will hold up over time. After than, a bright Ti would be a close second. I also really like the sand or desert tan finish that Convoy uses. Not only does it look nice but it feels very good in the hand.
I like stainless ,Ti, Sand Greenish grey Dark Blue and rich colors . slate blue or grey ,browns etc . The problem is you can screw up a color pretty easily . ..Like the Xeno E03 red that looks ugly rose?? sofirns red isn't real good either and their new green is too dark imo
Convoys new green looks nice too ..but suffers from head and tail mismatch. Farkas old bluish grey was beautiful...colors can be difficult and need to be done right .
I always thought I wanted orange ...but it's not as interesting in person .

I like colored lights BUT, it seems the better they look the less likely I am to use them as the tools they are. If they can’t be used without worry of messing up the pretty colors then I tend to give it or sell it off.

I don’t mind black, but I would prefer a lot of other colors if they were available. Brighter greens and blues especially.
I have always liked the olive green color Zebralight uses. But not enough to collect based on it.
My flashlight + watch reviews... enjoy!!
Natural/OD Type III anodizing, Surefire’s and others that are similar look better Zebralight IMHO but the latter is nice too.
just like in the Dog Shows: ASCOB.
Any Solid Color Other than Black.
Mostly black. I use my lights a lot for photography and my photography gear is black.
My bikes are black and so are my bike lights.
I see them as tools, not fashion accessories, except I have a couple of nice EDC knives for social occasions and matching small lights in copper and SS.
??? Well, poop.
"Real bright, though."
Black is fine.
I like other colours, mainly darker matte metals and military colours. Anything bright just reminds me of cheap plastic lights from the 1980s.
Fashion isn’t the biggest factor, but looking good does help.
Not sure why I am remembering this now… but for as long as I can remember, I always liked the type III finish and color of the Fenix T1.

Its like an olive gray.
My flashlight + watch reviews... enjoy!!
Natural HA Type III has always been my favorite.
Baked
great topic discussion IMO, thanks Zoulas!
I like anodized colors of all sorts (blue, green, tan/desert, & red especially). or if there is a unique one, as long as they aren’t too bright, unless they are really nice. Its weird, there are so many contradictions when i try to describe the colors of ano i like on lights. Some blues are great to me, some not so much. I don’t like the convoy s2 colors really at all, but i like all of astrolux’s colors. but convoy gray is my favorite gray, well besides fw3a gray (blue) lol.
but, without a doubt, i am most drawn to natural metals – copper, brass (more so lately then copper, which i used to despise brass), bare aluminum, titanium. These are my favorites definitely, i always go for them when they’re available or i can afford them lol. they age the best too (no worn ano look
)
Is that something you did yourself? Never saw that color available for sale .
Black light, baked in an oven. Electrics removed.
