For years I have been using pic rail and P60 hosts for my camera lighting. I really need more floody lumens though. ~230 OTF just isn’t cutting it as far as video capture goes (it never did really, I should have looked into this long ago). The simple / easy solution is a new P60 drop in or a new 1” light. My concern with that though is heat, since I need as many lumens as possible for a constant-ON scenario.
I would really like to jump up to 21700 (or 26650 if possible), and use 30mm scope-mounts to attach a bigger light to my cam.
Does anyone know of a 21700 light that has a body tube 29~30mm diameter?
To all the BLF collectors… do any of your lights have a 29-30mm diameter?
It needs to be as bright and floody as possible for long runs of 4~5 minutes or more. I would only use Turbo modes in very short runs, of ~30 seconds.
I am looking at lights like Sofirn IF25A, Convoy S21A (XHP50.2)… but I think these lights are not exactly 30mm. Am I correct on that?
Astrolux FT01 has a 30mm body and floods well. It’s got plenty of mass and can run on high 1400 lumens for 30 minutes and still be cool enough to hold. Just a bit more floody than a P60 with an XP-L. The light pulls 7 amps on turbo and puts out about 2400 lumens. It’s been my duty light for over the last two years and I’m a big fan of it. I was going to suggest probably one of the best lights you’ll get for video or photo, the Wuben TO50R.
It uses a 21700, has 4x90CRI Samsung leds in 5000K, holds high and turbo for a while.
But it went to mesure the battery tube and it is around 27.8mm, so I am not sure if it is valid for you (also the price is quite high, but so is quality).
I was wondering if you could put some grip material inside the mount:

You can also think about the convoy S11, although that one is larger than 30mm :zipper_mouth_face:
