Thermal Stepdown question

Is it my imagination or do only lights with electronic switches have a thermal stepdown?

I don’t think I have any lights with mechanical switches that have a thermal step down.

Yes. It’s your imagination.

Most Convoy lights with the CC drivers have thermal stepdowns, and many of those have only a mechanical tail switch.

That is strange because my S2+ will run on turbo until it melts.I am sure thermal step down cost some money to implement. Not sure why the budget lights would have this idiotic so called feature.

Not significant. Easy method is a timed stepdown.

Thermal stepdowns are great if implemented well and easy to build into firmware. Timed stepdowns have their place of course, but I prefer a well designed and executed thermal ramp. I think Crescendo has a good one (for clicky), and for all out power, Imalent has a thermal throttling that straddles the line between too hot for bare skin, but good for sustained output.

The 7135 drivers don’t have thermal regulation.

Lots of clicky drivers from mtne can be found with thermal step-down or have it added by flashing new firmware

It seems the ones with the most obvious thermal step down are the ones with electronic switches and ramping interfaces. Just my observation.
