Whut’re those things flying around in the beam… bugs?

Yeah, I’m not crazy about the looks of the new P30 beam. Too fuzzy. My regular P30 looks like the beam was cut with a razor, it’s so clean.

That NM1 looks really nice.

How did you get 1082 meters on a C8+ with NM1 or how did you measure it and calculate to get that number ? I’ve bought one and built 1 both only achieve roughly 170k – 175k candela measured at 10 meters which converted is roughly 830~ meters.

Well, I got it with other lights nearly a year ago and went up and measured it side-by-side next to the TN32 and these other throwers on a rooftop. I don’t remember exactly what criteria I used since I was rating it next to other lights and went from 1 meter to 10 meters, but being that it actually out-threw my TN32 UT, I’d say I did a solid job.

Now some of these C8+‘s differ in throw in output and beam reach, I know, which I think has to do with the centering piece or something. So it is possible that we will get + or minus in ratings.

I know there is generally a variance from light to light but I don’t think a perfectly centered ring would double the candela from a centering ring thats slightly off this is just from personal experience though I haven’t adjusted many reflectors besides a few s2+/c8+ I’ve made but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

So just want to confirm you didn’t measure the throw with a lux meter / measuring device and it was an estimate based on personal visual perception correct ?
