I've been cataloguing all high-cri COBs, and noticed V4 of the Optisolis model #'s showing up. Worth noting that only the V3 has the Optisolis branding, but there is a R9580 variant of the V4 model numbers that share all the same specs, but are 8-15% more efficient.
Their data sheets show the same color rendering values, so I do wonder if it's enough to keep up with the value proposition of the Bridgelux Thrive? At least on paper the Thrive beats out the Optisolis in color rendering, are more efficient, and cheaper, resulting in nearly 4x the lumens per dollar.
Thoughts? Anyone eagerly awaiting the V4's, or have people generally moved on?

These are not Optisolis. They have high CRI but they don’t have the smooth spectrum of Optisolis.
ADDED:
Could you please tell where do you see Thrive being more efficient?
I took a quick look, took the first v4 datasheet (turned out to be NFCWJ108B-V4). Well, maybe not the best choice because it’s 14.6 mm LES and Thrive doesn’t have an exact match.
So I took both 13 and 18 mm ones.
They both offer 116 lm/W when driven at the rated current at 25°C. Also, the rating power is quite low, 0.041 W/mm² and 0.040 W/mm² respectively.
NFCWJ108B-V4 offers 133 lm/W in cold white, also at 25°C, when driven slightly harder – 0.045 W/mm².
NFCWJ108B-V4 offers 122 lm/W in warm white, also at 25°C, when driven slightly harder – 0.045 W/mm².
I’m confused.
I used to think that Optisolis had different CCTs of its emitters and a very smooth spectrum.
When I see a press release for the COBs, they also shore those nice spectrograms. But when I open a datasheet I only see regular spectrum with single CCT with a regular cyan hole.
So V4 does’t seem worse than V3, simply more efficient. But Optisolis COB seems to have worse spectrum than Optisolis SMD.
Am I missing something?
