XP-L HI 3000K

I don't see much talk about it? Not very popular these days? Why the hate?

I don’t think it’s as popular as the 2850K bin that Emisar-Noctigon and other retailers and suppliers have because they are usually 70 and 80 CRI bins vs the former’s 90+.

7A2 tint bin should be somewhat rosy though.

Ooh okay it’s the color accuracy. Well I can understand why most would want that. Kinda like you wanna see the green bush at night but it’s got to look like a green bush that I see during a sunny day kinda thing.

IDK if that’s ironic or serious about the bush (if it’s the former I got a kick out of it  ) but talking about things that are basically homogenous in color would make any amount of color quality in a light source sound pretty moot. It’s the difference between similar colors (or dissimilar, but appearing similar at ~70CRI) that is much more apparent under higher Ra/CRI light.

I think the loss in output and efficiency of going for high CRI when you’ve already done so for warm temp is easier to make, vs wanting absolute max output in which case most people would be staying with 5000K+ anyway.

For what I’ve seen of the FW3As w/ warm white XP-L HI that were in the first batches though I bet these look pretty good!

I have a 7A tint (I think) FW1A. Love it. Nice colour and output.

Huh? Who hates on it?

That warm already makes reds and browns “pop” vs Angry Blue™ CW emitters, so it should be pretty nice right out of the box.

The difference between that and high-CRI emitters is incremental (and a lot of the latter seem to have a greenish tint). As and Ds should be on the rosy side vs Bs and Cs, so definitely not green.

The difference between that XP-L and the high-CRI emitters would be like basic lasagna made with noodles, tomato sauce, and cheese, and the same but with a pinch of herbs here and there. Might be worth it if you want to go through the trouble for that hint of “something extra”, but if you’re hungry and just want to inhale what’s on the plate, the fast’n’easy version is plenty good.

You crack me up . Myself doing almost all my meals from scratch tending the italian way .

Hey thanks for the info all. Okay good can hold strong current. Plus it’s nice and warm overall.
Yeah no I do like the latest tints from SST20’s, 351’s etc. Just giving the the little guy (xpl hi 3000k) some attention. I do like that it’s flat led already too.

For what it’s worth, Kaidomain sells 90CRI 3000k XP-L HI, I quite like them.

That's where I got my XP-L HI from. Oh good it's 90CRI too! Yes!

Well It's only fitting that I mounted it into a black S2+ with SMO reflector too. Black S2+ because 3000K and SMO with flat XP-L Hi because will give more throw.

So now I have 90 CRI 3000K tint plus more throw.

Is that the Nitecore SRT7? Nice flashlight they have. It’s got a selector ring, CR123 compatibility and colored led.

Nice! Don’t sell it.

Ooh putting in an Osram. Now SRT7 will be good as new! :+1:

I didn’t know a 3000 existed, and it’s really nice to know the 7A2 (from kaido man) should be rosy! I know what I’m ordering.

Got some of those LEDs from KD today and made my LD10 much more interesting. Like an extra-extra-warm-light Armytek.

I’m close to swap the emitter of my KR1  .

So thank you very much, Hank!

Yes another choice of tints to choose for the tint connoisseurs out there. Boy so many too choose now regarding 3000K leds. And because the die is flat, it’ll throw more? I think that’s why people cut the dome?

Hey kinda like the flat Osrams where the excitement seems to be now.

Had to do it:

Hi all,
Does anyone know anything about the output of the XP-L HI U4 8A 2850K 80CRI that Emisar currently offers as an option for the D4V2?
I can’t find any information on how it performs compared to the XP-L HI 4000K

It is significantly less bright.

I bought those exact xpl-hi from kaidoman about 5 months ago, i didnt expect much since the 5A3 i got form them were YELLOW, so i didnt use the 7A2 for awhile.

Well...

let me tell you - i put them in a D4v2, those 7A2 are some of the NICEST xpl-hi i have used. theyre perfect! why have i ordered more?

Because Kaidoman doesnt seem to believe it bluk discount pricing. i offered to buy 20 if there was SOME type of discount involved, they responded once but never offered a price.

And at $5 and change US, theyre not worth it when i can get 5A4 from hank for $4 (when your buying 20-60 leds, it adds up of course).

Ive been waiting over a month for Simon (Convoy) 7A3 to show up, so i can compare them to Kaidoman's. Simons 7A3 are the best priced xpl-hi i ever bought, when buying 10 ($3.5 each!)

I just hope they're as good as the Kaidoman 7A2
