GT70 value?

I have the opportunity to buy a GT70. It looks in good shape, and has the extension with the third batt carrier.
But I can’t test it and naturally the cells are dead.
I’ve seen some new one in the $250 range.

I’m wondering if I should make an offer at a low price. And how much do you think I should offer?
If it turns out to be a brick, what are my options as far as a repair or using it a a base for???
Thoughts?
Thanks,
All the Best,
Jeff

If the seller is selling untested with unknown history, you should offer as low as possible. If the seller really wanted to get top dollar, he would install some working cells and prove it works as normal. If this is gonna be a shot in the dark, I would say $50. That number can double or triple if the seller wanted to market it right.

I second that. If the light works the seller would most definitely show that it works. If I were to purchase the light. I would do so as a rebuild and make a offer accordingly. Let us know how it goes. Good Luck, Jim

You probably won’t get burned paying $120+shipping if it’s not to steep, $150 even. Worst that can go wrong is you’ll need to buy a new driver and a new led but that shouldn’t be too expensive, and it’s unlikely that both are broken. Be prepared to put in some modding work though.

A GT host is at least worth >100 dollar

But…, the GT70 was interesting at the time, but with the GT90 since added to the line-up, it is IMO the least attractive version of the GT series. So, assuming that it is a working undamaged flashlight, I would also offer low, say 80 dollar.

Thanks all,
Still undecided. I’ll let you if I get it.
All the Best,
Jeff

Why dont you make a low offer and see if you get any feedback. You can always increase your offer.

I would probably buy it and if something was busted, convert it to GT90. I’ve got spare cell-carrier conversion boards I’d sell you for the cost of postage

Turns out the bargain price was $350! About what new GT90 goes for.
That made the decision easy.
Thanks again,
All the Best,
Jeff

LOL!

Maybe you can buy this one and convert it?

So much for fifty bucks.

.
Well that will not sell. Maybe keep tabs on it in case price changes.
The driver is hard to find, I think a Q8 driver can be modded to work if needed.

Jeff, for us following along at home, did the seller GET $350 for a GT70 as a Pig in a Poke or is that what they want? Fin lists one on via Banggood (it’s on the front page) if you use the code BGLGT70 it comes in at $235. Brand new.

Yea $235 is what Neal sells them for too. $350 is gt90 territory

And honestly, unless your married to having the GT line (I get it, there is just something undeniably awesome about the GT), you can get the same performance (I am pretty maybe even "better") from the mf04 / mf04s for about $170, brand new, shipped.

Didnt know the Asstrolux can be had for such a low price!

The seller did sell it for $325 plus additional fees.
Can’t imagine what the buyer was thinking. Especially since they couldn’t test the light first!
No case or instructions. Just the light full of dead 18650s.
Yeah, $235 - $250 new. Think it went to someone who had no idea what the heck it was.
I’d I gone a little over a hundred bucks just to take the chance it was working.

Lots of folks with more money than brains here is Texas. And I like Texas and most Texans.
Watched an auction in January where a fancy pistol sold for $13,000.
Two folks were bidden against each other, nobody was backing down.
Think it gets to be a matter of pride. Eventually the lady bidder won.
The exact same revolver was (and maybe still is) available new in the box for $3500.
Go figure!

But then in the same auction a piece of crap Tec-9 with a 3” barrel went for over $1000.
And someone paid $1200 for 20 rounds of .50 Browning. Academy had it a few weeks ago for $60 for 10.

Strange Times.
All the Best,
Jeff

These are strange times indeed. $50 or more for a box of Blazer Brass fmj 9mm. $800 for a 5,000 round crate of .22 lr. $40 for 20 rounds of cheap 5.56mm. There’s shortage of ammo, guns, mental health professionals, batteries. People are grabbing up guns and ammo worse than in 2012.

It’s because the liberals are in power and they don’t like guns or flashlights.
