Lithium Ion Battery Breakthrough...Is this finally it?

So this company claims it’s developed an 18650 Li-ion battery using a silicon anode with 28% higher capacity and shorter charge times than the 18650s currently used in most vehicles today. Is this actually something this time or just another empty promise. What are your thoughts?

Well…. They already have 3600mah 18650s.
3800mah is only 5% higher

Is it cheaper? That is the question….

Tesla’s 4680 battery also has a silicone anode as well, according to news releases.

Lithium still makes me nervous. I’m holding out for solid state.

Higher true capacity AND cheaper?

Seriously, though, I don't see how it would be cheaper.

Smells like Nanograf is running out of venture capital cash and is trying to position itself in the best light possible for the next pitch to investors.

This doesn’t sound like a big advancement. Just the author trying to make it sound big.

High capacity cells like the GA and MJ1 already use carbon-Si mixtures for the anode. This is probably not that different.

there has been so many claims of revolutionary developments in batteries for last 20 years, now i do not take any such claim seriously unless i see it on the market.

Damn, I was gonna say that ….but with 10 years as my period. I’m shocked that batteries aren’t further along than they are now. During the Obama administration, they were giving out grants like candy for this very subject. $10 billion was the last number I read. $10 billion giving out in A SINGLE YEAR. Where’s the results?
