I was wondering what mcu this headlamp runs, and possible “upgrade” UI may be flashed into it w/o any actual hardware changes?
I wont be around mine until the weekend to look at it.
I have recently got into some light caving, and (believe it or not) this can be too much even on low at times.
I have several of them from camping. Great for that. My thoughts were to give it lower mode options (or Andurial would be GREAT) and pot the guts after.
I know I could buy something else, but where is the fun in that?
I think gchart had a swap for just the MCU to enable anduril, and quadrupel has a few drivers for it that will run anduril - that’s what I’ve done with my D10 and D25S. But afaik nobody has flashed the stock MCU.
I had seen Quadrupel’s drivers. I have never done a swap on a stacked driver set-up w/ built-in charging. Not real sure how to go about it, though I could probably figure it out along the way.
I will have to find gchart’s mcu swap. That sounds like just the ticket realy. Plus it would give me a “reason” to get a reflow station.
Interesting, I recently got a D25L (2x LH351D 5000k) but miss the battery voltage checking functionality of Anduril. I suppose I’ll look for that MCU-swap post too
To swap driver you have to de-solder and solder back 4 wires, no mcu swap needed . Plus you’ll have lighted button and constant current output up to 350mA. Its a classic Fet +7135 driver.
mtnelectronics has them. Shipping to you may make them fall into the cosmic price range though.
What changes did you make to the Emisar D4 ui ?
Wondering if I might be able to get a driver from you minus the attiny85, and get that from Mtn, with the ui on it.
I would end up having to solder the mcu on still, but may be worth it for a ramping ui with low modes.
But then you’d have a custom light. My build of one of Quadrupels designs was worth all the money. And the pain you’ll suffer if you do this for the first time .
