Amutorch E3S / E4

.

The UI of the E3S is terrible. My first and last Amutorch.

Edit: Just had a look at the E4. Is it only available in brass? Not a good material for such a light.

Save some money for a good EDC.

Brass doesn’t conduct heat well. Much worse than aluminum actually.

The E3S has mode memory and no way to enter a direct low lumen level. Also, the lowest level is already quite high. The ramping is not visually linear.

The Manker ist much, much better.

is.

Ist is german. Sorry

where are you looking at the amutorch? on their wbesite?

huh, the E3H looks pretty interesting - a 3 x xpl-hi 21700 powered, 105mm long, mechanical tail switch, TIR optic light for $35.. i may buy one just because ive never seen anything like it before. I think Convoy is starting to work on something like this though, but it will probably be months.

to answer your qeustion though- for me i would go E4 all day. in a light tat size i would prefer the tail switch. it looks solid, and i like the pocket clip (same looking clip style and location as the one jack send with the new FireFlies e07x pro 22430 body, which is an awesome addition to that light).

E4 definitely.

That new xt35 looks good too! like a mechanical reverse switch KR1 sized light! and so does the xt45 with sbt90 for $72 on sale.. damn amutorch, offering some contenders imo.

I would go with the 5000k over the 6500k, and if 4000k was available I would go with that, so technically in that order (4000k being most desirebale). You will lose some output going down to nichia and 5000k or more so down to 4000k, but the tint , color, and possible color rendering will look better making the small output and lumen loss a non negotiable. The quality of the light, in my opinion, will look better at 5000k and 4000k and Hereford give you a better user experience. Remember that the lower that"k" number goes, the warmer the light gets and the more "daulight" like or "candlelight" like, which is easier on your eye and also better looking overall. If you do like blue and bright light, then 6500k would be your best option. I do have lights with that output but generally they are high out put and throwers, bit edc pocket carry lights. Hope that helps.

yes you are right IMO about the 6500k and the way it renders objects, and it only gets worse in my opinion the brighter the lights get. So good call not going with that one. I would switch the LEDS but if you aren't setup to do that then I wouldn't go with those leds.
