Do you prefer showers or baths?

(This thread was inspired by a recent spam thread that has been deleted.)

I don't have a bathtub, but when I did, I almost always took showers.

The only time I took a bath was when I was sick.

I don't get sick very often, but I am sick right now, so I wish I had a bathtub.

Can’t remember the last bath I took. Sitting in dirty water turns me off.

Yeah, I agree, but when I'm sick, taking a warm bath is good for my sinuses.

When I used to have a bathtub, I would shower off after my bath to be cleaner.

I just never liked the whole experience. I stay out of water in general. Pools, ocean etc.

Yeh, as Seinfeld called it, “a bacteria frappe”.

That’s why for me, it’s a shower, or if I go for a soak, it’s bath then shower.

I actually just installed a garbage disposal in my shower. The latest Clarkman model.

I’ve never understood the appeal of a bath if a hot shower is available. I know many people find it relaxing but I don’t enjoy it at all.

Japanese people shower first, then take a bath. The bath water remains clean and can be reheated for the next time. They also have these unibody whole-bathroom units, no joints, no edges, no silicon, just one continuous smooth surface super easy to clean. In my opinion, they have the best bathing system.

The last time I ever took a bath, I was a toddler, so I’m biased towards showers Big Smile I’d like to try and soak in a tub once (after showering myself clean like the Japanese do) to know what it feels like.

Shower, all the way. Took out the tub from the master bath and had a shower stall put in. The other tub hasn’t been used in years.

Hope you get feeling better quickly.

Thanks!

I feel better today than yesterday, so I hope I continue on this path of improvement.  :THUMBS-UP:

Worked in construction for a while and hell or high water got the work done. Come home soaking wet or a sheet of ice all over. A bath helped to restore the lost heat and slumber was deep.

When I renovated my bathroom, just so conveniently a 6’ acrylic unit fitted between the walls. Although seldom used now (bathwise), I enjoy the extra space (36” versus 30”) in showering.

Behavioural conditioning: having an active weekday lifestyle I wouldn’t think to soak in the tub much; on a bleak and rainy Sunday, I may decompress with some music, a headrest, and of course some aromatic bubbly…

When I built my house, I bought a stock house plan. It called for a tub in the master bath. Instead I bought a fiberglass base and surround the size of a traditional tub. Low threshold and roomy. Love it. The tub in the full bath gets used to bath the grandchildren or my wife’s plants.

We have a pretty good view, but we don't have a bunch of large windows or glass doors like in that photo.

We usually go outside to enjoy the view the best.

Showers for speed and daily use.
Bath on rare occasions and time to spare.

I will bet that I have not had a bath since grade school! In fact, I remember it… I was about 8 and covered in oil based paint from “helping” dad paint a shed while I also painted the dog. Guess who was in the tub with me. I am now almost 56, so 48 years ago? I do love a good shower, cool in the summer and hot in the winter.

Can’t remember the last time I had a bath, probably as a child. None of my apartments had a bathtub, neither had any of my gf’s places.
gym only has showers (would be weird if they had a bathtub, lol).

that bathroom linked above is out of this world, does anyone on here have anything like that?

That bath is all show and no go. Quite uncomfortable as there are no armrests nor an inclined shoulder rest. There are other stand-alones that do have the ergonomics for actually relaxing and also have provision for the accoutrements – soaps / wash gels bath foams / back-brush / etc. They have a built-in outer shelf about the corners and some have all the plumbing hidden within the back wall of the tub.

Then there are the corner units with a podium style. Unfortunately, a secondary showering unit has to be installed also. I had once re-configured a stylish curtain rod and extended the handheld “douche” line to hook onto the rod. And then again I mostly did remove the styled bath from some master bedrooms and replaced it with a ceramic / glassed shower – much more in line with modern-day living.

The view is something though!

I like baths but I’m too tall for most tubs. If I’m in a hotel for some reason and the tub is large enough I will usually take at least one just to enjoy it. I normally just shower.

My pool does have an attached jacuzzi type spa tho Smile

It has a TCR rating of ‘10’. $1.00 including batteries.

“Do you prefer showers or baths?”

depends on the situation.

1. normal, everyday life: showers.
2. medical necessity: bath (sometimes something should be shielded).
3. outdoors: bathing in the river/lake/etc. with compatible friends.

This is sorta true at our place.

Only my sister and niece have a bathtub, and they won't let me use it!

Hmmm, that is interesting. I have a “Coon Arse” buddy down in the LA Bayous & that sounds like something he would do. ✅
Either way… nice going my friend. Wink
