Just looked again
convoy SFT-40 are N5 CE 5700k
Kaidomain SFT-40 are N5 BC 6500K and might be a better voltage bin

BC seems to be between 6000K-6500K and above BBL, and CE 5700K-6000K and much higher above BBL.

awesome thank you so much!

There's a Convoy flashlight I want to get with this emitter, but I want a warmer tint.

Does anyone know if the Luminus SFT40 will ever come in warm white?

I don’t think we’ll ever ever see it in warm, but I’d be happy if they’d satisfy the 5000K need.

The (2020 prelim) datasheet shows chromacity for 4500K up to 10000K but the order code bins don’t list the 4500 at all, and actually the only ones that look to legit be released are 6500K (everything else says “contact Luminus” which basically means No unless you’re ordering huge amounts for a run). Covid ended the world so maybe something’s just further-delayed but I’d guess at this point that 6500 is all we get. I hope that their sales/product team doesn’t look at low sales as a reason not to introduce other colors/bins for this emitter, given that availability has been low and spotty from the start, but sometimes they do dumb things like that. “We’re discontinuing the following widgets because of low sales”…“but we couldn’t sell any because you didn’t provide us with stock to sell”…“sorry but the numbers govern our choices.” Smile

Is the 5000K SFT40 going to come out? I don’t know why they bother with 6500K and 5700K, most people prefer 5000K in comparison.

The 6500K actually isn’t that bad, on the warmer side of tint/temp than what you might expect. Most of the “cool white” emitters I’ve seen from several brands in 6500K are noticeably colder. With the SFT40 that Simon had last summer you can see the cold in the beam against the sky/with airborne debris/moisture but on targets it really isn’t half bad. I don’t know if his restocks after the first are the same but from reports it would seem so. Possible that it might even look better compared to a 5000K that is low CRI, but we’ll have to wait for that comparison until/if they ever release that version.

Hanks 6500k (intl-outdoor) is the nicest bin I have seen out of the 5-6 bins I have bought since last summer from various suppliers. It's doesn't "feel" like 6500k, and it has a really nice clean tint with almost zero green.

Does he sell the SFT40 separately? I couldn’t find a listing for them.

How suitable is the SFT40 to put in a BLF Q8? Could they take the FET drive? How would it compare to XHP50.2 emitters?

Probably, as long as he has them stocked for the flashlights he’s offering. Just ask him and he’ll give you a quote for that specific emitter. I bought some other unlisted LEDs from him without issues.

If your intent is to re-flow onto Sofitn’s Q8 Pro Q8. it is compatible and was done by Sofirn a while back as the 50.2 (3 volts) were not available. Mind you they were the SST40 which is basically the same but domed.
If you want to upgrade your existing BLF Q8, the footprint of the XPL-2 is 3535 and the SFT 40 is 5050. Some members got hold of a re-vamped MCPCB from Led4Power with such intent. Perhaps one would chime in…
As for beam quality, the SFTs are more throwy and have fewer artifacts less green than the XHPs. As for lumens, it depends on the electrical path as any minute resistance hinders the performance.

Yeah, I just bought a pair. Probably easiest if you have a regular order to add it to. Just email him first to get a quote on the emitters, place your regular order on the website, and then send an extra Paypal payment for the extra stuff with a message to add it to the existing order. That way he can process the order normally, and just toss the extra stuff in the box.
