Bike tail light

I’ve been using the search function quite some time trying to find recent posts about this but couldn’t find any. I’m looking for a good red tail light and was hoping you guys had some good experiences with some.

My requirements:

  • Replacable battery
  • Charge function
  • Red light
  • Have a constant red mode (flashing is not allowed in NL)
  • Works in colder weather <0 degrees celcius
  • Water and mud proof
  • Less than 25 euros

So what are the bikies on these forum carrying. Please let me know!!!

I’m using front and rear lights from Cygolite. I don’t have the model number at hand, but mine came paired as a kit with both front and rear lights. USB rechargeable, with selectable modes. The only thing you’ll probably have a hard time finding is something with replaceable battery. If it were me I’d just go to the local bike shop and get something there. You live in a bike crazy country so it shouldn’t be too hard.

I have an old Blackburn rear light which runs off 2xAAA and has served beautifully for over a decade now. I use lithiums (energizers) and get ridiculously long times between battery changes. I also have another, a Cat Eye brand. Also 2xAAA but this one features a lens designed to be a red reflector so if your batteries die or its not on or whatever there is still some functional benefit.

Here is the newer version of my Cat Eye
Blackburn doesn’t show my light anymore but they do offer some newer models which take replaceable batteries.

I can’t vouch for this one, but the Planet Bike Greatful Red also has an integrated red reflector (I like this design feature if thats not obvious).

Nice looking CatEye, the TL-LD570R. Is that a center white light, for one of the modes? If so, that’s ingenious. Just in case you ever need to detach your light and use it for another purpose, having an optional white emitter mode could be useful.

Same here, using the Superflash from Planet Bike for some years now. It has a nice build quality, using it even when mountainbiking and it holds sturdily.

Just saw that there are a few versions of the Superflash, and one also with a built-in rechargeable battery. Mine uses two AAA.

The center LED is red, no reason for a red lens over a red emitter I suppose?

I used a pair of this for about two years. They are extremely cheap, bright, and battery is long lasting... but it is also bulky and casing will fail you at some point.

I upgraded to this rechargeable COB light back in 2018?

Which is still working despite under rain a few times.

I am current using this INFUN F50 COB with motion sensor.

My next upgrade could be Olight x Magicshine RN180.
