Zebralight SC64 replacement?

Sad story: I lost my SC64. Even sadder: Zebralight does not have any in stock except the LE or flood and does not appear to be making any new ones any time soon.

Question: What is a good replacement for the Zebralight SC64 with the cool (~5700k) XHP or the HI version?

I have: FW3T, FW1A Pro, EDC18 HI, JetBeam RRT01 (this one seems the closest, but it’s only a 18350 battery and it’s kind of heavy)
I am looking for a compact single emitter EDC light with similar output to the SC64 in a similar size. Is there anything?

Thank you!

Skilhunt M200?

Get yourself an SC64w HI from GP Knives.

I would really suggest the Emisar D4V2, my one that is my real workhorse has been beat to crap and just keeps going. It is a quad, not a single emitter but unless you specifically need throw… this is an excellent light.

Emisar D4V2

It is offered with XP-L Hi V3 1A that would dramatically increase the throw of the platform. I think the SST-20’s perform very well in the platform as well. This light offers a side switch interface that is great, has aux led’s which I love. I know it is not single emitter and I really wish this platform came in single emitter as my main EDC is the FW1A. My main previous EDC was a Zebralight XM-L2 warm 18650 and I did really like it, but it was not perfect for me.

Pulled mine from storage… It is an SC62W.

Thanks for the suggestions (keep em coming).
I wasn’t aware there were Zebralight dealers. I always bought direct. I work in a cold storage facility (maintenance/tech) so I greatly prefer the single emitter with good throw to reach the high ceilings and equipment mounted up there. The SC64 is about perfect for me, but I wish it had just a tiny bit more throw.

I wonder why there is no real competitive option. I have requested from the Lumintop folks several times a single emitter EDC18 and they have said a few times “it’s in the works” but nothing has ever come of it.
A single emitter Emisar DV42 would be fantastic as well.

There’s the single emitter FW1A. That’s pretty much like an EDC18 except with a tailswitch. Not sure how tough it would be though.

Or there’s the Sofirn SC31 Pro. It’s available on Amazon and is a lot cheaper than a Zebralight. But it’s also higher output (2000 lumens) and has the same UI as the EDC18. It also has a single emitter.

Still, if you’re looking for something with good output, good runtime at high power, efficiency, and compact size … nothing beats the Zebralight SC64w HI. It’s probably the best choice for your needs.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your SC64. I treasure my SC64w. I’m sorry to hear they don’t plan on making any more of them soon…

I bought a Lumintop Tool AA v2 Nichia last year, and frankly it is a decent lightweight and very capable EDC option for me, as inexpensive as it is. The ability to use a 14500 in this light is a nice feature. I am on the waiting list for notification when they come back in stock at my US source for my first one, because I might buy a backup. Granted, it isn’t a Zebralight, but I’m impressed enough by it that I just bought a D2 that will be arriving soon. The cool white version of the Tool AA v2 is available cheap now.

I should point out GP Knives also has the regular SC64 in stock, but I’d still strongly recommend the SC64w HI over that. It’s throwier, with a more neutral CCT, higher CRI, and great tint, and at some point they will be unavailable when Zebralight runs out of that particular XHP35 HI. It’s one of their best models and has a well-deserved reputation.

Sorry about the loss. I have SC64w HI and totally agree with this. It is a very nice light with the good tint (overall and no strong cree rainbow effect) and CRI (very good for 80 CRI).

The hi is my favorite, ZL ’s site is never up to date. Sometimes it ships next day sometimes a month later when shown out of stock. Like others have said gpknives, or maybe Nkon. My last was cheaper from them but shipping took forever.

My favorite work EDC right now is the Sofirn SC31 pro with the shorty tube. While I do appreciate Zebralight and someday will get one, for knock around use the SC31 pro seems better suited. Onboard charging is also nice when you’re away from home.

I found it… in the pocket of my clean shorts… :person_facepalming:
It’s dead. :frowning:

Water get into it?

Yup. Somehow. The battery survived, but when I turned it on, the high level didn’t have any sub levels and then the light went out, but the body kept getting hotter. :weary:

Zebralight does out of warranty repairs for something like $15. AFAIK they normally just swap in a new driver, so it doesn’t really matter if it’s a minor fault or severe water damage like this. They might charge you a bit extra since you’ll need a new reflector and lens, but it’s worth getting in touch. Bear in mind they are also quite slow, with reports of multiple month waits.

A bugger to open up but I have read about others modding them so give it a google.

I just sent them a request.

In the mean time… still on the hunt.
I’m just dumbfounded Zebralight is the only one that can (or is willing to?) squeeze everything into that little body. All of the options posted thus far while surely good options (I have a few of them) are still larger in one dimension or another.

Maybe YLP Unicorn?

Still a noticeable size diferrence IMO, the SC64 is really amazing.

The only 18650 light smaller than the Zebralight SC64 is the DQG 18650 Tiny IV.

The DQG is a decent light, but it’s not in the same league as the Zebra. The Zebra is tougher, has a better interface, higher output, higher sustained output, better UI, and a much more efficient driver.
