Skullzs

This build is not finished yet but I’m waiting in line to get the jab…. it’s a long line :weary:

Start with a handful of rings. I hadn’t planned on using 3 different types on one build but was playing around loosely holding them together and thought “yes! I have to build that”

I haven’t taken anymore pics but I’m actually a bit further along in construction. I’ve made the body and tail. Part way through making the pill after which I can start final assembly. I expect to have it finish it on the coming weekend.

This should be good. :) Love your creativity and vision...that hair trimmer was an amazing creation.

Lol, I hope that hair trimmer is not the bench mark by which all my future builds will be compared …

Looks awesome, I am so jealous with your machines :)

Skilled skullz :sunglasses:
Looking forward the completion , but good work so far

My machine work didn’t make those skull rings  I’m just fitting them all together :sunglasses: and you, YuvalS, helped me with programming the tail on this light :crown:

So more pics for you guys…

The first time I tried to fit one of gCharts battery indicator lighted tail boards i screwed up (of course :expressionless: ) and broke one of the components off the board. I since lost the part and cannot be bothered trying to chase up a new part so i repurposed the board. I programmed an attiny85 to run the lightning code to the tail leds (with help from YuvalS  )

This build didn’t go too smoothly. I had to remake 1-2 parts but nothing that really irritated me like i sometimes get. So all in all I’m happy with the process. On the tech side though i still need help :person_facepalming: Where do a put the bleeder resistor on the led4power driver (ld-a4) ? I thought i should be able to gogle this info but couldn’t find it. As you can imagine i felt like this :weary: when i assembled everything and the tail didn’t light up. The main leds function though so that’s a win

I forgot to mention, one thing that I didn’t like about the rings - more specifically the rings on the head. Since i’ve been handling the head it’s like the coating on the brass is coming off and the resulting colour is quite different from the rest of the light  oh well, I can’t expect too much from cheap rings from china

Here’s a pic of them before i started

Phenomenal! Although I'm disappointed that one of the skulls doesn't have red aux eyes - or even all five hundred of them. lol :)

I just looked at a couple of my LD4A drivers that I ordered with the bleeder...20mm boards where it looks like yours is 17mm? Overall the same but I think it's a different board. Those three unused pads on yours at 5 o'clock in your photo. I have a little three-legger chip there but its orientation is reversed and there's a trace leading to the ground ring. The rest of the layout looks identical to me on a quick glance. I got mine from him a couple months ago, not sure if that matters. Interesting that the 20mm seems to have the 17mm ground ring on top (all holes bridged with solder) and then a second larger ring....on the spring side it's just one wider ground ring (not sure if there is via connection or if I should look closer at the top side for traces). Anyway...that doesn't help you. I'll bet Neven could guide you if you email him, or maybe the info is buried in the driver thread.

I like the innovative tailcap with the retaining ring on the outside, too! And the pattern on the bezel...nice work!

Very nice craftsmanship pinkpanda3310. I am impressed with every light you touch. :sunglasses:
