skywolfeye 14500 any good?

They claim to be rated at 1200mah would be interested to know how they compare to the orbtronic 1100mah.

Seems thats about the highest capacity on the market, not sure what company makes the cells, as they are likely rebranded from a major supplier.
Didnt sanyo have the highest capacity 14500 at some point?

I would trust Orbtronic over most other rewrapping battery companies.

I always check HKJ’s reviews first and than look where I can find those.

Personally I am not a great fan of cells that come with lights. Not that those are bad per sé, but flashlight manufacturers focus on building lights, for the same brand cells they depend on the reliability of their cell suppliers/rewrappers. I have more faith in the consistency of what’s inside an Orbtronic than in the cell carrying the name of a small flashlight manufacturer.

Don’t always trust the numbers on the label. High energy AND high drain have a price. So stick to trusted brands like LG, Panasonic/Sanyo, Samsung, Sony. And if you find those brands for low prices, they might be fakes. So check the trustworthyness of the sellers.

I bought some years ago.
Green and yellow wrapper.

They have TERRIBLE capacity. Not even 500mah if I recall correctly.

OK, i did wonder that.
I would like to know if LG, Samsung or panasonic are available, i cant seem to find any.

Here’s a link to Vapcell store on Ali.

They have some good 14500s. You may have to do some research with HKJ.

If you are open to other brands , the sofirn ones are good. Not sure what’s under the wrapper but they are only $2.

With a brand name like Skywolfeye, I’d want to see at least 3 times as much rated capacity. :sunglasses:

Joking aside, looking at the Skywolfeye branded products on Amazon, they appear to be another Shadowhawk / Atomic Beam type brand, where the common advice is don’t pay more than $5 per light, and don’t trust their batteries or chargers.

Vapcell, Sanyo, Keeppower, Shockli, and XTar all seem to test roughly as advertised according to HKJ. It doesn’t look like he’s tested any Orbtronic 14500’s, but I trust the people above vouching for them. Sofirn also has a 14500 cell (rewrap from unknown manufacturer) that I’d be willing to give a try.

Availability is going to dictate which one you get.

I don’t think LG, Samsung or Sony make 14500s. Efest, KeepPower, and Shockli may still be around. Panasonics Sanyos may also be found. Xtar cells are usually shipped with the charger; some other stores do sell them individually in the 18650/26650 formats, but I haven’t seen any 14500s.
OP was looking for high capacity cell IIRC.

Edit: To my surprise, there would have been Sony 14500, Panasonics are superseded by Sanyos.

Efest doesnt seem to have any that I can find. I know Nitecore did have some.
Likely they are getting the cells rebranded from another manufacturer.
Who knows if thats Sanyo or some random chinese company.

I do believe there are a handful of decent chinese brands, but the majority on ebay are just junk and also have misleading capacitys on them like 2600mah or something similar.

skywolfeye is another of those knockoffs like ultrafire, ect.
heavy on BS.
dont waste your money on that crap!

Yeah I had gathered that, just noticed a few US sellers had them listed on ebay so thought they may have been a better brand.

Anyway, the reason i need a pair of these are for a modded mini maglite im building.
I need the highest capacity possible.

I cant see any sanyo available anymore either, Is nitecore your only real option now?
