Laser slingshot

Can someone experienced with slingshot kindly explain some things to me?

What does the vial do? It sits vertically, not horizontally, so obviously it’s not for keeping the slingshot straight.
What do those 2 thin green and red wires next to vial do? And how do you insert them through the holes on the support? They break very easily.
Does the laser really help with accuracy?

Just ignore the “vial”, the “wires” and the laser. They are of no use on a slingshot.

You need an ergonomic handle, and for real power an underarm support. This looks like a gadget.

Can be substituted with muscles and experience, as shown by a famous youtuber.

I see, I do not have any of that :frowning: , I even do not have my slingshot anymore, I lended it to a friend who was going to shoot mango’s out of trees for her rainforest monkey research (I never understood the details), and never got it back.

It’s only vertical if you hold it wrong. It’s a gangsta slingshot :person_facepalming: .

The vial is for people who shoot sideways and the lines are supposed to be some kind of optic and you line them up. The laser is a joke unless you can measure the distance by eye and Can account for the weight of the projectile and the vertical drop, it’s all a gimmick and the handle doesn’t look comfy at all

what this slingshot
is designed to do
is attract a buyer.

Is it just me or is that laser facing the wrong way…

Something like this, djozz?

Slingshot | :heavy_check_mark:
Ergonomic handle | :heavy_check_mark:
Underarm support | :heavy_check_mark:
Ammunition, mix | :heavy_check_mark:
Mangoes | :heavy_check_mark:
Monkey research | ✘
Lend it out to friends | ✘

You can have this one if you miss your old one. (But not many mango trees in Amsterdam :confounded: )

That looks like a cool well-used slingshot :sunglasses: Sending it will be more expensive than if I just bought a new one on Amazon, but thanks  . Btw, the ones with armrest are officially not allowed in the Netherlands.

Mine was very much like this “Daisy B52” :

But I remember it was marked “black widow”

It looks uglier than the ones on Aliexpress

Are there seriously countries with restrictions on slingshots? I think some of our laws are ridiculous but that’s taking it to another level!

I just looked it up, they changed the law, here slingshots are completely forbidden to own now (just as several types of knives, knuckle dusters, arrows with cutting edge, all types of fire arms unless you are a member of a shooting club which are not many, hand grenades, pepper spray and similar products).

Swords, crossbows, batons, some airsoftguns and harpoons are legal to own but can not be taken to public places.

Arms laws are different here in Europe than they are in the US, but that can not be discussed on this forum.

Yeah, self-defense laws here are messed up. You cannot defend yourself unless you become a criminal.
Luckily there are not so many criminals here as in the US so you don’t need to defend yourself that much, but if when you do… you are f…ked

The criminals here all seem to group together in certain areas which I never travel to or through so self defense not really an issue to me, but as a kid we shot our slingshots all the time, it makes me sad that people would make that illegal. To me it’s just kids playing. Thinking about it after all these years makes me want to get mi kids one now. I’m part hillbilly ya know.

In the state of Victoria, Australia slingshots with an arm brace as well as any slingshots manufactured for commercial distribution are prohibited weapons.

I’m not sure what the reasoning behind that is - perhaps the intention is to allow the type of slingshots that kids might make but prevent people from building anything too powerful.

They’ll get around in a few years to banning the rest. Can’t ban too fast as the people might catch on it’s not about crime control as it is about people control.

I would love to find a Marksman 3071 “Laserhawk,” released ~2000-2001. Probably one of the best slingshot ever made

No doubt they will.

I wrote a long rant then thought better of posting it.
