Help - Olight S2r Baton II - Do you think i got a "Seconds" batch light?

Hey there!

One of my latest purchases - an Olight S2r Baton II in Titanium, special edition ("courage") came in recently from one of our well known Chinese sellers.

There are some oddities that I don't know if are common for these lights. Im just wondering - anyone out there who collects these lights or knows them well, has there been any weirdness with them lately? I always envisioned Olights drivers and QC to be good. I have only bought one other Olight beside this and i had returned it because of the LED tint (Ti warrior mini V1).. now i realize i can change the LED, hence why i bought the similar light again because the finish is so nice on this Titanium light.

The oddities

- the UI seems finicky and there is a random PWM on its low mode.. Not moonlight and not any other mode. it doesn't happen every time its on low mode which is weird, like 1 out of 4 times it will have "PWM"

- On Turbo, the light "fades" when i turn it off, all other modes it turns off quickly. if that makes sense.

- Sometimes (very seldomly, but it has happened) the button does weird things - if i hold it down to cycle through modes it has skipped modes or went into the blinky modes

- I had recently bought a M2R 18650 version from a BLF member, and that light functions perfectly. I Know it is inherently different with a tail switch, but it's side switch doesnt have any of these issues..

Other thing to note -

It was shrink wrapped when i received it, and definitely appeared to be 100% brand new (this is me comparing it to when i bought the brand new Warrior Mini Titanium from Amazon)

Overall -

The light works "good", and it isn't extremely glitchy, but of the little i have used it maybe 1 out of 6-7 times it does one of these "oddities".

just looking for some advice. And i know someone will say i shouldn't of bought it or i should sell it or throw it in the river because it's an Olight, but i do like the light otherwise (the finish is really nice), and i will like it more when i put the 2850K xpl-hi from emisar in it. So i am keeping it lol.

I do know from experience that Olight has a very responsible warranty policy; I have had lights repaired or replaced without question.

Since your light is virtually brand new, I’d contact them immediately. Unless things there have drastically changed I’m sure they’ll make it right.

s. I have a few earlier Olights, (S20’s and S30’s) and yes, after I changed up the emitters, they are great. I’m not sure about the newer lights - after they countersunk the bezels, I suspect they’re a lot harder to modify.

yea I was wondering about rwAching out to them. Since I haven't modded it yet it should still be under warranty. I mean I 90% sure where I bought it is an authorized dealer. I guess I'll have to email them. It's suck to do all of the work for the emitter swap (it's kindve a PITA from what I've been told) and then have the button fail or something..

There should be a serial number on it. Include that when you contact them. I don’t think they care where you bought it, I’ve had two go back for warranty (one for a switch, one for a driver) and nobody asked where I bought them, or even for a warranty card. They seem to be “if we built it, we’ll fix it.”

I’m sure they’d choke on it if you dug around inside it though - and that’s reasonable.

Why would he get it repaired when he just bought it. I would return it. Either buy it again or be done with it and get something else.

awesome great info, thanks for that. And yes it totally makes sense!

this is a good point too Zoulas.. I guess my thought may be - if I buy a new one (they are still available) it could happen again. And I really want to have this light whether this one or a new one. But if I get it repaired hopefully it'll just be fixed.. I don't know

The turbo fade to off is normal for some of their lights.

my s2r baton also fades a little when turning off from turbo so thats normal, i dont think u got a faulty light if it looked brand new. ujust need get used to the button thats all.

Glad to hear about your experience.

I emailed them via the Olight store.com website and they responded and have asked me for a video of the faulty light. I have sent it to them waiting on the response. It may be that my light really isn't bad and that I need to get used to the switch like another memeber said, but I'm pretty worried this switch will only last a couple month. I got my optics in to do my emitter mod but now feel like I should wait because I don't want to screw kyself out of a warranty 6 months down the road.. what A bummer
