Some changes i'd like to see in Anduril

As more and more of my lights use the Anduril firmware there’s a couple of changes that I’d like to see implemented in it to either improve a function or streamline the usage of it. Ordered a flashing kit for my hanklights so hope to get them in one way or another.

1) The high/lo blink of the auxiliary LEDs don’t replicate all the combination colors (i.e. yellow/purple) in low that they do in high. For example I have a D4v2 and K9.3 in front of me that are flashing high yellow / low green instead of yellow/yellow.

One solution would be to reprogram out the low flash all together, but a better solution might be some more auxiliary modes:

Solid Low / Solid High / Low Flash / High Flash / Solid low with 1hz High flash / Alternating low/high flash

Some configuration options for Hz and duration would be welcome also. Maybe even for the per RGB colors of the low/high values, though that might overcomplicate the UI unless buried deeply enough. I personally would prefer the flash to be at a steady brightness rather than alternate.

2) Move all of the flashy modes into the same place

Instead of having the flash modes in two separate places in the UI the Beacon, and S.O.S. could be moved into the same place as the other flashies (strobe, candle, lightning, etc.). If the flashing rate could be adjusted low enough for the Party Strobe and Police Strobe, a separate beacon mode option could be eliminated altogether, and this would give a choice of beacon duration (Short vs. long burst) between the two.

Sunset mode might be able to be moved into there, though it’s not a flashy and probably should be elsewhere. Perhaps in the main UI as a timer option such as olight implemented in their lights for a while, or leave it under the battery/temp submenu as is. I’ve never found use for this mode, it might live happily there.

I’ve always found it a little strange that the flashy modes are split between two different locations in the UI, consolidating them would make things more streamlined and intuitive.

3) I’ve never had much complaint about the signal mode, I have two different implementations of it in my lights (one that you have to cut the battery to disable and the other exiting the mode after another 5 clicks) but I recently got a Niwalker ES2 and in order to disable this mode you have to completely remove the battery tube to break the circuit, which is much more annoying than a simple quarter turn of the tailcap if you get into it by accident. Nothing I can do about this since I’m not seeing firmware pads on it but it might be worth some thought, perhaps configuration options to enable/disable features on a light that you may or may not want to use. Perhaps a master configuration menu accessed beneath the battery/temp menu.

Thoughts, opinions welcome.

The aux light issue is tough to fix. The LEDs respond differently at different voltages so high/low can’t always be precisely controlled for all 6 colors.

Anduril 1 had all the blinkies together, doubt it’s going back.

Many of the changes you recommend are possible with code changes, and some are on the simple side. It is open source and many users here have their own builds with little tweaks that they use.

Sunset is already integrated into the main UI via 5H in Anduril 2.
