Silicone wires?

Hi guys,

Would appreciate your advice on best place (and cheapest) to purchase a few yards of silicone wire. I'm creating some balancing leads as well as wiring up various projects.

Also, do you think 12awg would be sufficient (max discharge should be around 10A).

TIA!,
Tim

It's not the absolute cheapest - but it's quite reasonable and they ship instantly - same day, hell, usually same hour. Head over to www.mcmaster.com and type 7479K241 into the search box.

12ga is MORE than enough for 10 amps. 16 would do just fine if you can tolerate a little bit of voltage drop.

Thx Pilot!

Anyone other recommendations?

cheapbatterypacks.com is also a good site to purchase some silicone wire. I usually buy from here and haven't had any issues

I bought mine from here, you could buy just 1 but I prefer black and red for positive and negative.

Ah, the nonconformist ! Laughing

LOL…good catch!

Thx guys!

@ezarc, I'm in the same boat, they MUST be color coded.

I would suggest that you look at www.hobbyking.com under hardware and accessories. They have silicone wire in an amazing array of gauges and colors. They also offer colored heat shrink tubing in a multitude of sizes.

The XT-60 connectors are pretty nice if you need high amp connectors. We have started using them on our headlamp battery packs.

When I purchased my Accucel-6, they had the best price I could find.

Hope this helps,
Joanne

Ah yes, how could I forget about them! Cool, thx!
