Thrower That Can use Olight H2R 18650 Batteries?

I have an Olight H2R Nova headtorch which I really like, but reading online the 18650 battery is a “customised” one and only compatible with certain other flashlights in their range:
https://www.flashaholics.co.uk/products/olight-customised-18650-3000mah-battery.html#undefined1

I’m looking for a handheld thrower that can compliment it and also be used as a backup on night hikes and camping trips, but I’d like something that will work with the same battery so I can swap batteries between lights. The R20 has been mentioned on the above page but are there any others worth considering? Are these customised cells strictly an Olight thing or do other brands have compatible technologies?

Many thanks

That’s eye wateringly expensive! Why do you want to use that cell in another light? I’m guessing it’s protected so not really the best. The only reason it’s ‘customised’ is to facilitate olights proprietary charging. Why not just get whatever handheld thrower you want, with a good 18650 (30Q), then carry a couple of spare 30Q’s that you can run in both.

I second that. I prefer getting a back-up cell for my light over a back-up light for my cell.

I assume the Olight batt is just longer due to electronics added. It quite easy to make up a regular (unprotected) battery.

I suffer from the same when it comes to 14500 lights. Many of them are built in a manner forcing you to use a convex ““. The work-around that works for me is soldering a blop on positive side to imitate a convex. It works well.

So maybe instead of searching a light that takes Olight batts, you could adapt a regular unprotected cell? Then you could give up the Olight one and enjoy the whole variety available on the market?

Thanks for the replies. Just to clarify, I was thinking that carrying spare cells that can work in either flashlight will be less to carry than carrying 2 types of cell on a multi day hike. If 30Qs will work in both then great, any suggestions for brand/type that will work in the H2R?

Apologies if I’m asking some pretty newbie questions here. :zipper_mouth_face: Electronics aren’t my strong point and I’m still getting my head around what works with what.

I already have an MTE branded SF-23 which I’ll happily use as a backup if there are cells which work with both.

Not sure about that particular cell, but my Olight 21700's can be used in normal flashlights and in normal chargers (when they fit of course, because of their length, and of the plastic washer around the positive terminal (that you can remove with a knife))
