Maglite parts

Anyone has a spare switch assembly and rubber boot for the 2D maglite? Mines sounds like something is loose/broken and the rubber boot is cracking. Thank you.

Have you successfully removed the switch housing?

Haven’t got a chance but from what I can tell, when I click it on and shake it, something rattles from the switch.

Under the switch boot is a hole and at the bottom of this hole is a set screw which establishes the GROUND connection of the switch to the Mag body. In addition to removing the snap ring, you have to back off this set screw to remove the switch housing. This screw may be either a 5/64” hex or a T8 torx. I think if you look down the tube and the positive battery contact terminal at the bottom of the switch housing is a spring, the switch housing will have a 5/64” hex screw. If it has a flat solid metal contact, it has a T8 screw. To get the T8 screw out you have to have a T8 tool which has a body diameter the same as the tip diameter, to fit into the hole in the switch. I took a T8 L key and ground down the shank to match the tip diameter. It may be possible to find a T8 screwdriver with a shank diameter the same as the tip. Wiha 96708 may be such a tool but I am not certain. Also Bondhus Torx L-wrenches. Chances are none of these tools will actually work without grinding down the shank. The other option is to drill out the hole in the switch mechanism a little. There is a rather long thread on CPF about all of this.

Once you get the switch out, I will send you a new switch and boot.

Thank you. Just bought a set of Allen keys. I’ll try to open it this week.

Edit, I was able to removed the switch.

Hoop,

Part arrived. Thank you very much for your generosity.
