It's a pretty simple question but I am curious what the majority of the community does. This is for flashlights not including headlights or lanterns.
About 90-95% of the time I use mine outdoors. There just isn't many times I need one inside and I spend a lot of time outdoors in a dark rural setting. Regardless, I make as many excuses to use a flashlight as possible.
Outdoor I got for a 1 hour walk most nights, preferably after dark, preferably with at least 2-3 flashlights. I’ve got too many so need to make sure each gets some air at least once or twice per year.
Indoor my torch du jour is SC64w HI or mcbob SC64c w/ 219b - mostly for fidgeting with during the day and to light up where I walk once the family is in bed at night.
In closing, probably light on outside more than light on inside.
I use my big and medium size flashlights outdoors, and my small flashlights indoors at my community meeting hall facility. When the night meetings are over, I navigate through the building without having to turn on/off the main lights. I perform nightly maintenance outside with medium and large lights.
Nighttime walks are with use of the biggies, but I carry small lights, too. Lots of both indoor and outdoor use daily.
Indoors: D4V2 quad W2 is on the front burner.
Outdoors: EC03, X50 and BLF GT94 are on the front burner.
I rely on my flashlight (Malkoff MDC HA) frequently during my work day for equipment inspections, predominantly indoors. My fun lights come out at home, mostly indoors after dark, but I usually drag a couple throwers outside to play with for a few minutes every night (when the weather allows).
Edit to answer the question….indoors sees more usage for me.
Indoors, easily. I live in a very well-lit city, especially now that the sodium lamps are being phased out. Only time I’ve seen a dark street in recent memory was on a recent blackout.
Light pollution would bug the hell out of me. Don’t even like full moons. Across the valley from me a new parking lot with LED lighting opened. Bugs me.
