KR4 questions regarding firmware...

So, I just ended up with a KR4, SST-20 4000k. They have to be the best looking SST-20’s I have ever seen, thought my D4V2 was so much better than my FW3A’s, but this is a tad rosy, very little yellow and no green. Must be FD2’s, have to dig out my FW3A that I put them in for comparison.

The light has a 7.5 amp driver in it and is running Anduril 1. It works very well and properly at 1/150 and I need to keep that working. But, I want to get an auto lock patch on it. So, I could run my FW3A version that has auto lock patched in, but I am not sure it will support this driver. I could go to Anduril 2 from Hank, but I do not want to risk running well at 1/150. I am not going to EDC it until it has auto lock that I can set for 3 to 5 minutes.

What are all of your thoughts?

Thanks Matt

Sorry, what is auto lock and what do you mean by 1/150?

1/150 is the lowest output floor, some of Hanks drivers have issues below 3/150. I use 1/150 every night on the D4V2, D4SV2 and now this KR4. Auto lock in Anduril 1 was a user patch that could engage lockout after X minutes, if enabled. I use it on all of my FW3A’s and FW1A’s that I EDC. Requires a reflash. Have smoked a couple of pockets with the sensitive electronic switches. But I really like the switches.

You can flash the latest version of Anduril 2. It has improved lower levels and autolock is included in Anduril 2.

The instability of the lower modes on the newer regulated drivers isn’t a software issue, its hardware. If your light works fine at 1/150 on Anduril 1, it will also be fine on Anduril 2. As mentioned above, newer versions of Anduril 2 use jump start and dynamic PWM on the lower modes to smooth out the ramping so it might actually work even better.
