Quad 219B lights

What small-ish lights can take quad 219B? Is the S21B viable for this?

Sofirn IF25A looks complicated because without some regulation it would burn out.

I swapped 219B sw45k emitters into a first-generation Emisar D4 back in 2018 and they’re still working. I use mostly low and medium outputs, but occasionally use turbo for short periods. Party

Hank now offers 219B as an option on the D4V2 and D4SV2. I’ve read that the firmware limits FET output to 50% to protect the emitters.

I’ve heard the suggestion to use non-high drain cells such as the Panasonic NCR18650GA to protect 219B emitters when used in hot rod lights.

I’ve also built and swapped several 219B triples including FW3A and Convoy S2+. Haven’t ruined any Nichias yet! Cool

I put triple 219Bs in an S2+ too and that works great, no issues with overheating even after running on max output for over an hour.

Was just asking because someone asked me about building a quad IF25A but it doesn’t look worth the effort, especially when the S12 is available with triple 219B direct from Simon.

Acebeam ec65 nichia looks nice for 219b. But I don’t know how difficult it is to open it, and it is expensive. Also, the 219c that comes with it looks great.

What is the current on max?

If it’s running over an hour it means ~3A. In that case voltage of a battery is lower than Vf, which means that after an hour the output is only some percentage of max. I believe that after 20 minutes or so the flashlight is scorching hot Wink

The Convoy S21B has a built-in shelf so no it won't work without a milling machine, tools, and lots of work.

Better choice would be the Convoy S21A which has a removable pill and you can add a spacer to do a QUAD setup.  Pretty easy to do.

Get the mcpcb from mtn -   https://www.mtnelectronics.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=63_64&product_id=849

Get the leds from your favorite led supplier - Simon has them in his AliX store. Mtn used to carry them but i don't see them on his website at the moment. Lots of vendors to buy LEDs from.

Get the copper spacer from kiriba-ru here on BLF for $5 each plus shipping.

Get the host from Simon - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33011209997.html

I can't spoon feed it any better than that. Now it's up to you to build it, have fun !!

I bought the D4V2 with 219’s. Running with a Samsung 30Q and have had no issues so far. I don’t use turbo for more than a quick burst and don’t run the light for an extended duration though.
It does get warm rather quickly on turbo, but again I haven’t done extended runs.
Overall happy with the size to output ratio. And the beam profile and tint (4500K).

I’d use Kaidomain quad pcb with 20mm optical lens Carclo quad tir is too wide to fit S21A/B but this Kaidomain one is just fine. I’ve tried different amperages to run them and 8A seems to be maximum. Otherwise 100% is usable just for max 10 secs before light is scorching hot.
