xp-l hd and xp-g2. Are these leds still good? Does anyone still use them in their builds?

I am asking out of curiosity, because I have the impression that xp-l hd has been superseded by the 351d, and xp-g2 by sst20. They are rarely seen in new lights anymore.

I have a cheap flashlight that I put a warm High CRI XP-G2 into. I like the tint, and use the light regularly. My DQG Spy Ti that I wear around my neck has an XP-G2. Also have a few random lights that I worked on with de-domed XM-L2 emitters that are still very serviceable. That’s pretty much it though for older emitters.

I still see the XP-l in some triple emitter lights —- As far as the XP-G2 I don’t think anybody is putting them in new lights any more — I still have a bunch of lights with XM-L2— XP-L — Xp-G2—— XP-E2 ( kind of the predecessor to the SST 20 ) —— I still have a bunch of the older emitters ready for builds — even several MT-G2 ( still gotta love the 4000k)

Xpg2 is still viable if you want good tints but don’t care about cri. A 5A/5D xpg2 is still a very nice option for that situation imo. The XP-L HD died with the HIs arrival. HD domes didn’t fit under triples, and for single emitter lights, it didn’t really move the bar from the XML2.

Is it the Xp-G2 1D tint dedomed that makes the sweetest creamy white — I can’t remember exactly — I had 3-4 throwers with that LED

I have my lovely IF25.Wanted to reflow leds…Because lumens higher numbers…This small leds-are XPLHI still the best choice when we talk about lumens?thanks a lot:)

Xpl hi are still great, and popular thanks to domeless design. But it seems to me that HD is still a good choice because they really have no competition. Lots of light in 3535 size. And it’s easier to find a good tint for xpl hd than xm-l2.
