I want to say they are legit but I never really heard the story on these. Simon sold them in his store for a brief time a couple years ago…might be some posts about them in the main Convoy thread. Samsung oddly varies their wrap colors/shades not infrequently, no idea why or if there’s significance to it in terms of the contents. These are probably more of an off-white/grey than pure white, like what was shown in other places. What I don’t see and makes me curious is the little lasered batch code or whatever it is that is etched into the negative terminal on my 50E and 40T cells…that isn’t present on any of my Samsung 18650s. That may be a newer thing, though.
Could also post this in the new Fasttech thread where Kyle and Jasmine have been posting, see if they have better details.
Actually they can be authentic because on the picture is a “3” generation (Samsung 50E3) which is relatively new. Most other stores (like Nkon) still offers only second generation 50E2, which is in light blue wrap.
Consider buying from the 18650 Battery Store. They’ve got comparable 21700 cells for half the Fasttech price. I bought a Molicel 21700 with 45A and 4200mAh specs for $5. The Samsung 40T is the same price, 35A and 4000mAh.
They also seem to source many cells from LiitoKala which often sells chinese clones which quite often match capacity claims (max discharge can be a different story though).
The last 50Es that I got from Battery Junction came with gray wrapping. The thing I don’t like about them is that they don’t charge in my charger (Opus BT-C3100) since the positive terminal is a little more recessed than the blue ones. Thus I have to attach a small magnet in order to get them to charge.
